Maxar is currently seeking a Lead Software Systems Engineer to join our Software Engineering Team in Westminster, CO, San Jose, CA, Palo Alto, CA, or remotely in the United States. Our team has a broad spectrum of interfaces and responsibilities and we follow the Software Engineering Process modeled after the NASA 7150.2 Software Engineering Requirements. In this role, you will support our organization primarily on the Power Propulsion Element (PPE) program but may be used to support other programs as needed. As a Software Systems Engineering Lead the successful candidate will focus on technical leadership and process compliance. This role includes coordinating and guiding various software systems activities including requirements development, design documentation development, presenting at program design reviews, overseeing schedule adherence and supporting requirements analysis with the development orgs. This role is expected to cover the PPE lifecycle through launch and perhaps on orbit operations.The SSE Lead is the primary interface between the PPE software organization, Systems Engineering, the Program Office and the customer. Interfaces inside the software organization include Ground Software, Flight Software and Simulations Software. We are seeking an experienced candidate with a proven track record of working independently in a fast-paced environment and whose work ethic reflects action and problem solving. The successful candidate must function in an ambiguous environment with a focused intention to eliminate ambiguity with properly vetted solutions.Responsibilities:- Lead software systems engineering team for the PPE program
- Support other programs and activities as needed
- Work with customers, systems engineering and the software development organizations to produce world class software in compliance to processes, requirements, on budget and on schedule
- Support Configuration Control Board for software systems product development and management
- Own organizational responsibilities as defied in the Software Engineering Process, Software Assurance Plans and Software Development and Management Plans for these programs
- Mentor and train other Software Systems Engineers as the software systems lead
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Bachelor's degree Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8 years of total software systems engineering experience
- Minimum of 5 years of technical management and leadership overseeing complex development efforts (ie: aerospace, defense systems).
- Experience with NASA, DoD or FAA software engineering or systems engineering standards
- Have extensive experience in managing Requirements Analysis, code development and software V&V methodologies
- Software systems engineering across multiple interacting software CSCIs
- Knowledge of computer software development in complex aerospace or similar environments, and demonstrated experience in technical management of complex software development projects from contract award through delivery
- Working knowledge of DOORs or other requirements management tool
- MS degree or PhD in a special field of Engineering or Science
- Experience with satellites and satellite industry, including government civil or defense and intelligence programs
- Experience with software development standards and development methodologies per NASA NPR 7150
- Experience in agile development methodologies
- Familiarity with embedded flight code design
- Expert with extensive practical and theoretical experience in software modeling, simulation, system architectures
