Maxar is currently seeking a Manager of Software Development to join our team in Westminster, CO.

Your Project: The Spacecraft Calibration, Navigation, and Engineering software development team is responsible for the development and deployment of functional enhancements to Maxar's Ground System. What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):
  • Oversee activities of a cross-functional software development team composed of Product Owners, Software Developers, and DevOps Engineers to ensure deliverable commitments are met. Teams are responsible for new feature development as well as on-going system maintenance.
  • You will also be tasked with managing higher-level strategic goals, including but not limited to:
    • High-level allocation of resources to new feature development versus paying down historical technical debt. Knowledge to make these decisions is gained by participating in daily operational standups to review system issues, on-going discussions with architects, etc.
    • Risk mitigation within team via knowledge and task cross training, etc.
    • Participation in staff recruitment, performance assessment, salary, training, career development and recognition/disciplinary actions.
    • Coordination of vendor contracts, deliveries and schedule with affected company parties.
    • Continued refinement of the software development methodologies and tools by the organization.

Minimum requirements for this position:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of overall experience in a professional software engineering capacity
  • Strong management, analytical, and written/oral communication skills
  • Program and project management experience
  • Familiarity and experience working with a Systems Engineering organization, including requirements analysis, concept definitions, architecture and concepts of operations
  • Familiarity with an Agile or SAFe software development methodology

These skills would be amazing:
  • Knowledge of microservices-based systems running within a AWS ecosystem, continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD), and development operations (DevOps)
  • 5+ years of software engineering management experience, preferably in organizations using Agile, team-based practices

The compensation range for this po sition is 106,500 to $177,500 an nually, dependent on skills and experience. T his pos ition is also eligible for a bonus plan.
