First Presbyterian Church - Montrose is seeking a part-time children’s coordinator!

About Us:

First Presbyterian Church (“FPC”) is located in Montrose, Colorado, in beautiful Western Colorado

We have just over 200 members, and our children’s programming (birth through 5th grade) serves around 40 members, as well as regular attendees.

We currently have one Sunday morning service, which includes nursery for the littlest ones and children’s church for pre-k through 5th graders.

We also have a “Kid’s Hangout” on Wednesdays after school, which is popular with FPC kiddos and other families in the community.

We have a full time Youth Coordinator, an Administrative Assistant, and a Communications Coordinator on staff, as well as one paid nursery worker and a vibrant volunteer base, including a Children’s Committee.

We are an enthusiastic church which welcomes new ideas, and we are eager to support all of our staff and help them grow in their called ministries.

About the Position:

FPC’s Children’s Coordinator:

Organizes and oversees all children’s programs for ages birth through 5th grade for Sunday mornings, and K-5th for Wednesday afternoons.

Considers ways to improve or add to FPC programs for the benefit of FPC and the community.

Recruits, trains, and supervise paid and volunteer nursery and children’s staff.

Attends weekly staff meetings and collaborates with staff about outreach and ways to engage families at FPC.

Meets with Children’s Committee approximately monthly to review upcoming lessons and activities; provides written updates to Session.

Maintains a budget designated for Children’s and works with finance staff as necessary to regarding budget requests.

This position is expected to start at 15 hours/week (particularly under COVID restrictions), but may increase as the church’s needs evolve. While a portion of the work may be done remotely, the coordinator is expected to be on site during the children’s programs (Sunday and Wednesday) and staff meetings (weekly, TBD).

The ideal candidate must:

Be a born-again Christian with an active, personal, vital relationship with Jesus Christ.

Have a love for children and families as well as the ability and desire to teach (although some teaching duties may be delegated).

Have a heart for ministry, and be energetic and enthusiastic in developing new programs to meet the needs of FPC families and others in the community.

Be a team player who works with other staff to develop and implement church-wide programming in furtherance of FPC’s mission to “Live God’s Love In Community.”

Has a bachelor’s degree or experience in a relevant field.
