Work LocationWindsor, COJob Title: Equipment Engineer IIIJob Description: Position provides technical support to TOLMAR’s various packaging and manufacturing sites in Colorado (Fort Collins, Windsor). Address equipment specific installations, retrofits, improvements, and updates for both new and existing equipment impacting the Packaging Engineering Department. Maintains, monitors, and supports the various equipment aspects (i.e. quality, safety, operation, regulations, validation, and testing impacting/influencing the evolution of these equipment systems, and their use for both developmental and commercial applications within TOLMAR.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesUnderstand design components and features of basic primary (tubes, pumps, jars, syringes, vials, etc.), secondary (cartons, semi-rigid trays, etc.), and tertiary (shippers, etc.) packaging component systems.Interact with outside packaging equipment Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and 3rd party solutions providers to evaluate options for various equipment systems used in the packaging areas.Author/edit technical User Requirements Specifications (URS), Installation/Operational Qualifications (IOQ) and Change Controls (CC) required for various equipment systems used in the packaging areas.Author/edit technical work instructions, preventative maintenance, and recommended spare parts summaries required for various equipment systems used in the packaging areas.Coordinate with department colleagues to update various manufacturing/ packaging batch records in order to address any operational impacts from any given equipment implementation/change/update.Train various departments (Maintenance, Process, Packaging, and Manufacturing) personnel on equipment.Drive improvement (Quality, Efficiency, Safety) on existing equipment processes.Support/lead investigations, customer complaints, and related Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) related to equipment issues.Support testing activities for equipment line assessments.Support/lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on new equipment as needed.Assist in the research/selection of new/used equipment, parts for modification, and system integration options.Provide support to other Departments for products currently in development phase.Participate in required annual hazardous waste training. Hazardous waste involvement may include, but is not limited to container and tank management and inspections, generation of hazardous waste as a part of production or sampling processes and transfer of hazardous waste between lab procedure area, satellite accumulation and storage. Respond to spills per the Chemical Spill Procedures.Special projects and other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesUnderstanding of the various (i.e. mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation) components involved in equipment design/operation.Understanding of PLC logic, Equipment Integration, and Automation concepts.Demonstrated skill in successfully coordinating project team members across various departments.Experience in a cross-functional team environment.Effective written and oral communication skills.Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to be self-motivated and work effectively both independently and in a team setting.Ability to handle ambiguity and remain effective during periods of uncertainty and change.Working knowledge of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials, specifically those used in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or health care industry desired.Working knowledge of packaging equipment/processes and packaging component vendor’s equipment/processes preferred.Working knowledge of various packaging equipment (tube fillers / sealers / crimpers, bottling lines (fillers/cappers/labelers), tray packaging (Thermoforms, cartoners, vision systems) is preferred.Proficient in the use of various drafting/prototyping software (i.e. AutoCad, Solidworks, Google Sketch-up, etc.) is preferred.Core ValuesThe Equipment Engineer III is expected to operate within the framework of Tolmar’s Core Values:Consistently operate with the highest standards of ethics and compliance.Take ownership of your actions, success and setbacks.Respect each other and understand that honest collaboration is at the heart of our company success.Go the extra mile to make things happen.Be committed to all we do and the patients we serve.Embrace change with enthusiasm.Strive to learn about and understand the needs of customers and patients, and take action with great speed and efficiency no matter the task.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline strongly preferred.
