Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Network Engineer for a FULL TIME assignment with one of our premier Utility clients in Clinton, CT. This is a direct-hire, full-time position. Client cannot sponsor Visas now or in the future. Onsite work = 1 day per week. Company-wide COVID vaccination mandate is in effect.
Responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting LAN, WAN, Server, SAN, SDWan and VoIP infrastructures. Provides high-level technical support for voice, fiber, storage, and data network systems. Leads projects used to maintain current operating levels for infrastructure systems. Researches emerging technologies to enhance network performance and provide operating efficiencies. Assists with administration of security devices such as firewall, IDS, Proxy, and VPN. Remediates vulnerabilities detected in the networking infrastructure and related systems. Ensures customer focus and communication throughout all duties. Responsibilities :- Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and manages network hardware, software, systems, services, equipment, and devices.
- Acts as technical lead for all network related projects. Works with internal and external resources in support of those projects. Provides regular updates to management on the status of such projects.
- Maintains network security infrastructure, review system logs, monitors system security, and configures network security related devices.
- Support for all Unified Communications projects, services, and related phone equipment.
- Supports SAN and vmWare infrastructure.
- Works with outside agencies or organizations for network, security, and voice services.
- Provides input on budgets for all infrastructure related projects in support of the IT Capital Budget process.
- Researches new networking and telecommunication technologies. Develops business case and strategy for implementation where appropriate.
- Respond to emergency calls on a 24X7 basis, and must be able to work off shift hours and weekends to maintain system functionality when necessary.
- Work with the larger team across multiple states to provide connectivity and support combined technologies.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Preferred
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Preferred
- Expert knowledge of network design, installation, and maintenance.
- Expert knowledge of network security.
- Expert knowledge of Cloud networking (AWS and OCI).
- Knowledge of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking.
- Experience with Data Center networking technologies.
- Experience with vmWare.
- Experience with Windows Server Operating Systems.
- Must have a practical level of experience implementing and administering common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
