Job Description Summary Travelers is seeking a Cloud Technology Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Cloud Services - Performance and Data Engineering (ICS-PDE) organization as we grow and transform our technology landscape and move to the AWS cloud. The Cloud Technology Engineer will complete advanced end-to-end engineering and development tasks for specific system assignments including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting and implementation, based on user or system specifications, consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications, managing interaction between the systems and other technical support areas and defining technical requirements and coordinating team resources to solve problems.

The key areas of accountability include to the following:1. Support the build out of new and existing services as well as assist our customers with migrating application to the cloud, leveraging their knowledge of application development. 2. Serve as our primary technical service concierge by providing design consulting and bridging any gap that may exist for our internal customers in leveraging our primary cloud platforms. 3. Assist in designing and engineering solutions and aiding developers to have a strong understanding of our business' cloud strategy and application portfolio. 4. Drive migrations of internal applications within Infrastructure Application portfolio to cloud.

Evaluates systems specifications regarding customer requirements, transforming business specifications into cost-effective, technically correct solutions.
  • Prioritizes work and manages projects within established budget objectives and customer priorities.
  • Responsible for adhering to established quality control and security protocols.
  • Provides the division, department and business area management with timely and accurate information regarding the status and performance of the assigned project(s).
  • Builds, leverages, and maintains effective alliances across technical and business community.
  • Interacts with customers to achieve efficient, effective results.
  • Multi-tasks and prioritizes in accordance with business priorities and production availability requirements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, prioritize projects, and create alignment with overall Travelers Enterprise Business Intelligence and Analytics (EBIA) organizational needs.
  • Interface with software vendors and employees within the organization with regards to emerging technologies and new product testing.
  • Be a partner in the enterprise design roadmap, providing business, governance and technical recommendations.
  • Participate in the Request for Information(RFI) process with vendors on exploration of emerging tools Travelers is interested in investigating.
  • Help develop the technology framework for success, ensuring best practices are in place and being followed as it relates to emerging technologies and as it relates to Travelers established guidelines .
  • Assist in the onboarding of emerging technologies in either a Proof of Technology or a Proof of Concept fashion.
  • Partner with architecture teams on developing the overall strategic vision for Travelers technology road map.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience, required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Three years of practical experience in the deployment of Cloud Technology with a preference on AWS Cloud
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins, Git repositories and terraform 12 or higher preferred
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code automation strategies
  • Knowledge of Cloud data and platform security concepts with a preference on AWS Cloud
