Job Description Summary The Personal Insurance Data Management team has responsibility for ensuring that Enterprise best-practices regarding metadata, lineage, security, and quality are followed throughout the development of new data, and maintenance of existing data. As a member of the Data Enablement sub-team, you will have opportunities to:• Enhance the overall quality of our data by ensuring it is curated and developed in a manner consistent with industry best-practice• Enable data knowledge "self-service" for our business and technical partners by supporting a shared metadata repository that allows them to locate and leverage data that meets their needs• Ensure that sensitive data is properly identified and protected, consistent with CyberSecurity guidelines• Work on cross-divisional and cross-functional teams to develop new or revised data management standards and processes• Gain exposure to new metadata management tools• Gain exposure new technical platforms, particularly in regard to Cloud technology

This position may be based 100% remotely or in one of our offices.Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Participate in Information Review Board Sessions to review newly proposed data and apply industry standards and best-practice in its development, e.g. proper name, definition, valid values, security classification
  • Support Personal Insurance use of metadata tools such as the Ab Initio Metadata Portal and Alation Data Catalog. Assist with enrichment of content as well as socialization of tool functionality and value
  • Perform Data Asset Assessments to gauge the level of support (processing controls, security, production support, etc.) of an asset and recommend an action plan when the outcome falls below the expectations based on business usage
  • Assist in governing assets planned for the Cloud environment, helping to ensure that Legal, Compliance and Data Management pre-requisites have been met
  • Represent Personal Insurance on a variety of Enterprise Data Management cross-divisional work teams

Additional Opportunities:
  • Develop strategies and policies to ensure data consistency, accuracy, timeliness, validity and completeness
  • Influence adoption of defined data policies, standards, and best practices on assigned projects or initiatives
  • Collaborate with partners and assist with the design, development and implementation of innovative governance practices, roles, responsibilities
  • Leverage knowledge of data models, data relationships, mapping lineage and business rules to ensure that solutions meet operational and business needs
  • Analyze medium complexity customer requests (internal or external, e.g. data calls) for changes to production systems, determines impact on existing systems, processes and develops appropriate specifications, enhancements and or procedures to comply
  • Facilitate the root cause analysis and resolution of business data issues, including proposal and implementation of specification or procedural changes to address issue, working with impacted areas
  • Leverage tools, processes, and workflows to capture knowledge, find information and maintain its relevance
  • Actively promote a knowledge sharing culture and value proposition while generating awareness of initiatives throughout the organization
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance and governance of taxonomies and ensure their applicability to content and/or data
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business.
  • 4 years of relevant data and analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Good knowledge of Data Management tools and techniques
  • Thorough understanding of data models, data relationships, mapping lineage and business rules
  • Experience writing SQL queries
