Consultants in this role will work as a member or a leader of several project teams supporting clients on a wide variety of engagements covering topics such as financial modeling, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory issues, litigation, pricing, and product development. This position comes with significant upwards potential for a successful and motivated candidate.The RoleWork independently on assignments for more senior associates or lead parts of large projects to meet client engagement objectives

Perform analysis, develop tools, and prepare high quality work product to support recommendations to project managers

Share knowledge and experience with other colleagues

Mentor junior colleagues

Work collaboratively with others on a project team

Review peer work product as a quality control measure

Prepare drafts of client correspondence

Participate in meetings with clients

Make continuous progress on the SOA exam curriculum toward an FSA designation, utilizing a competitive student program

The RequirementsAt least 3 years of experience in an actuarial role at a life insurance company, consulting firm, or financial services organization

Strong technical skills, preferably in at least one of: Microsoft Excel with VBA, SQL, or R

Expertise in an actuarial software (GGY AXIS, Risk Agility, MG-ALFA, Moses, Prophet, and/or Polysystems) is a plus

Expertise in at least one specific U.S. life insurance and/or U.S. annuity product line

Expertise in at least one of the following functional areas as applied to the life insurance industry: predictive analytics / data science, financial reporting, financial modeling, mergers & acquisitions, and product development / pricing.

Motivated, independent learner willing to share their knowledge with others

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a local team and as part of teams across multiple offices

Ability to delve into technical issues and problem solve with minimal instruction

Ability to effectively assist junior colleagues

Ability to understand the big picture as to why an assignment needs to be performed and how it fits in to the final objective

Ability to balance supporting and leading multiple projects with multiple project managers, including timely communication of priorities and conflicts

Flexibility to put in extra effort to meet client deadlines when necessary

Strong oral and written communication skills to explain work product, findings, and recommendations to junior colleagues, peers, project managers, and clients

Successful track record in passing SOA exams - ASA designation and progress towards FSA preferred
