Job Description

The Calibration Technician inspects tooling (fixtures and gages) for conformance to blueprints and measuring dimensions by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Reading quality control manual and testing specifications to obtain data to test or calibrate specific devices.

· Selecting and installing accessories, such as adapters, indicating gauges, or holding devices on test or calibration fixture, and connecting instrument or device to fixture, according to specifications, using hand tools.

· Setting controls to regulate factors, such as current flow, timing cycle, pressure, temperature, or vacuum, according to specifications, and activating test or calibration equipment.

· Adjusting calibration mechanisms to obtain specified operational performance of device or instrument.

· Using hand tools and precision measuring and calibrating instruments and equipment including but not limited to mechanical gages-calipers, micrometers and height standards.

· Rejecting malfunctioning devices and routing devices to specified department for rework or salvaging of parts.

· Interacting with other departments and personnel to resolve any related issues.

· Assisting in developing new product capabilities and standards.

· Performing necessary database maintenance.

· Performs calibrations across multiple measurement areas and works independently on the majority of work assignments.

· Achieves customer satisfaction and timely turn-around on all equipment and service.

· Enters data into an asset tracking database.

· Creates calibration data sheets accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision based upon instrument specifications and approved calibration procedures.

· Completes all documentation supporting customer documentation requirements, reporting, ISO and other quality systems.

· U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident status required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Specific calibration and metrology training as provided in a technical school, junior college, or military curriculum.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

· Ability to write simple correspondence.

· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

· Bilingual desired but not required

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

· Ability to define problems establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

· Knowledge of Gage Pack preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually very quiet, but the employee will also be required to visit other environments where hearing and vision protection is required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
