JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care for an assigned group of patients, and for directing and coordinating all nursing care according to established standards of practice.

Uses the nursing process to assess needs, plan care, implement the plan, and evaluate the patient’s responses and progress towards goals.

Collaborates with colleagues, physicians, members of the healthcare team, and the patient and family to ensure safe, effective, and efficient care delivery.

Contributes to the overall quality of nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Appropriately delegates nursing tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel. Demonstrates clinical leadership skills and professional accountability.

This position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of experience on a cardiac step down unit and or critical care. They need to be dysrhythmia trained, and have Cardiovascular assessment skills.

This position is responsible for cardiac stress testing pharmacological and exercise, moderate sedation during transesophageal echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms and cardioversions with anesthesia support, IV starts, dysrhythmia detections. ACLS required

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BS in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.

Licensure : Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in Connecticut.

Certification : BLS certification required. Additional certifications may be required for certain departments. National certification in area of specialty preferred.

Skills : Familiarity with computer-based applications (E-MAR, clinical documentation), e-mail, and standard applications such as Microsoft Office.

Demonstrated teamwork and communication (written and verbal) skills; demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills
