Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range$122,000.00 - $201,300.00

What Is the Opportunity?Travelers is hiring a talented leader for an elite team of Cybersecurity engineers accountable for enterprise wide Endpoint Security, Data Loss Protection, Encryption and Malware Prevention. The incumbent will plan at a strategic/tactical level and manage the effective use of resources and directs assigned staff to design, develop, maintain, and implement major, highly complex IS Security related system(s) and/or project(s) supporting a business and/or technology area. He/she will have a significant role in the creation of strategic technology plans, manage multiple engagements with enterprise-wide business significance, and be responsible for all aspects of the human resource management of staff.

  • Has budget responsibility for an organizational unit of 5 to 25 employees and/or a budget of between $1M and $10M. Develops a portion of an overall divisional budget subject to review and is responsible for expense control for the units assigned. Demonstrates sound cost-effectiveness. Failure to achieve objectives can result in delays or inefficiencies resulting in readjustment of resources and/or staff.
  • Manages team(s) with responsibilities to support and maintain major, highly complex security processes, controls or products.
  • Manages team(s) with responsibilities to configure, test, document and implement new or upgrades to major, highly complex security processes, controls or products as directed.
  • May directly manage operational support and maintenance of Security related processes, controls or products.
  • May directly manage the configuration, testing, documentation and implementation of upgrades to security processes, controls or products as directed.
  • Leads activities or team(s) to resolve situations involving improper attempts to access or infiltrate our networks, as directed by, or in support of Cybersecurity.
  • Proposed/evaluate/recommend purchases and/or licensed software products to identify and address security exposures.
  • Lead Security and enterprise projects as assigned.
  • Lead strategic planning/roadmap creation for team.
  • Represents Security Engineering division at design and new technology meetings.
  • Provides human resources management, including coaching, performance management, team development and growth, and workforce planning.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Seven years of experience in Computer Science or a related field required.
  • Two years of experience managing others and/or technical teams required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline preferred.
  • Nine years of relevant experience with Cybersecurity practices, processes, and Cybersecurity event investigation/resolution preferred.
  • Five years of experience managing others and/or technical teams preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of all IT related technologies with subject matter expertise in IT Security related technology and business exposures impacting organizational vitality preferred.
  • Three or more years experience with the following technologies: data and file encryption including HSM's, data leakage protection, endpoint and mobile security including antivirmalware and endpoint threat detection and response preferred
  • Experience with the following security products: Microsoft Defender, McAfee, Tanium, Broadcom DLP, Thales encryption for data, file storage and HSM, Hashicorp ADP and Secrets Manager
  • Experience leading organizational change preferred.
