Job Description Summary Do you have a passion for problem-solving and learning new things? Are you inspired by the idea of being a part of a team of helpful, collaborative technologists who spend every day learning how reduce the friction of system integration by building platforms to empower software engineers? In The Technology Enablement Value stream we are simplifying and modernizing how Travelers approaches system integration. We know we need API's that are easy to understand and use. Engineers should be able to get access to and start using them in minutes. Our goal is to first design for a great user experience both creating and consuming assets. We have prioritized building self-service into our governance to empower our customers and drive consistency.

Our customers are Engineers writing API's and publishing business events to our Event Streaming Platform and all consumers of those products. We are looking for someone with a contagious energy for designing solutions and challenging how we 'use to do things'. Someone who sees beyond what was asked for and imagines something greater.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop enterprise vision, target state architectures, and roadmaps, for shared service topic domains (e.g., Cyber, Cloud Enablement, etc.), and work to gain alignment on these with key stakeholders
  • Define, manage, and execute on the Enterprise Arch. Shared Service domain backlog (e.g., define patterns or standards where gaps exist, etc.)
  • Identify / create reusable architecture patterns for Arch. Shared Services domain
  • Monitor emerging technology and innovations for given architecture domain; partner with LOBs and delivery teams to develop POV's & skinny systems
  • Support LOB PI efforts, where required, specific to shared service domains
  • Manage measurement of architecture metrics and value propositions
  • Transfer domain knowledge to architects across Enterprise
  • Enable compliance with relevant guiding principles and standards
  • Provide strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps while driving architectural recommendations.
  • Ensure architectural adherence through blueprint and design reviews.
  • Assist in the remediation of application stability and performance.
  • Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance.
  • Perform project level design, debug and performance analysis.
  • Responsible for the development and production support of enterprise application utilities and models to include publishing, best practices and guidelines for supported technologies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of experience in enterprise, application, and/or information architecture required.
  • 1 year of experience as a technical lead required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in enterprise, application, and/or information architecture preferred.
  • 3 years of experience as a technical lead preferred.
  • Experience managing others preferred.

Job Specific Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Must be passionate about technology transformations
  • Has hands-on experience in the last 3 years
  • Executed technology modernization initiatives including migration to cloud native and API Strategy
  • Current experience with AWS, APIs, accelerators, DevSecOps
  • Good understanding of modern security principles
  • Experienced with large scale technology platforms
  • Experience with large scale integrations
  • Experience with Event-driven architecture patterns with exposure to related technologies for streaming logs or Message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Google Pub/Sub, ect )
  • Exposure to API platforms (MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong)
  • Experience with API design patterns to drive consistency (security, monitoring, version control) through convention, enable documentation ( OpenAPI spec, RAML) and discovery for adoption in a large organization.
  • Extensive experience creating customer facing REST services which allow clients to navigate and discover resources
  • Financial awareness.
