Transmission Line EngineerRemote temporarily and on-site in the future if position turns into permanent role- Hartford, CT location highly preferred but someone in surrounding states fine (open to long term remote for contract portion). - if perm in the future, needs to relocate to Hartford, CT area for storm duty and to be on-site.Responsibilities/projects that your new hire will have:
- Project management skills handy, as dealing with multiple projects at once, coordinating with several groups at once.
- Have PM skills - working on schedules, contracts, reviewing proposals, budget, working with contractors
- Knowledge of transmission and substation power system planning, engineering, maintenance, and operations.
- Project Management: project scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, and client contact. Prepare contracts, specifications, and material estimates for substation and transmission line projects.
- Perform field engineering and construction inspection - definitely transmission line/substation design experience.
- Develop Project Authorization Forms. The Engineer will work with Engineering to develop scope, attend constructability walkdowns, develop project initiation schedule, give input to project cost estimate.
- Provide input to the development of the Transmission Business capital budget and the prioritization of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) initiatives, ensuring that s highest priority needs are met.
- Identify and prioritize projects for inclusion in the One-Year Capital Budget Plan and development of detailed project scope and schedule. Interface with Transmission Planning and Operations and Management to create the capital and O&M parts of the plan, respectively.
- Participate in the development of the five-year, three-state Transmission and Substation Capital Budget.
- Knowledge of transmission and substation power system planning, engineering, maintenance, and operations.
- Project Management: project scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, and client contact. Prepare contracts, specifications, and material estimates for substation and transmission line projects. Performed field engineering and construction inspection
- Engineering: Design of high voltage substations and transmission lines; Design new structures; Transmission Line engineering.
- A combination of strong technical knowledge and business acumen.
- Understanding of the Federal and New England Regulatory environment and the impact for the Transmission Business.
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial documents.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills

- Bachelor s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering or Bachelor s in Engineering Technology and a minimum of 5-8+ years related experience required.
- Work towards a Master s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Economics is desirable.
