I am a professional social worker/educator who uses a wheelchair. I am seeking a personal care assistant to provide support for my personal care needs, housework, laundry and driving my minivan to appointments and business meetings. Certifications or health related experience are not necessary. I will train you.
What is necessary is being honest and dependable, a willingness to learn and comfort in providing support in personal care with direction. Assistants who have found this work particularly rewarding include college students - social work, counseling, gerontology, physical and occupational therapy, nursing and medical; EMTs; retirees and work at home mothers.
It is a plus if candidates are interested in the concepts of person-centeredness, emergency preparedness, and self-determination, which are personal and professional interests of mine.
Hours available include Monday - Friday 7 am - 2:00 pm. Back-up hours are also needed for various shifts including evenings during the week/weekends. Regular hours can be split between a couple of people.
I am on the PCA Waiver Program - rate set at $15.00/hour. Additional raise soon.
