What You'll DoAs an Advanced Materials Science Plastics Researcher, you'll be part of our Hand Tools, Accessories, and Storage (HTAS) team located in New Britain, CT. You'll get to:
  • Conduct internal tests, lead suppliers to develop new materials, processes, and technologies for our products.
  • Teach other material leaders and engineers within the business unit and company to leverage new materials and technologies in the space of plastics and material science.
  • Create test procedures, quality plans, and transferrable documents associated with new materials and processes for successful implementation
  • Investigate new materials including many forms; bulk plastics, films and coatings, paint, powder coating and their associated processing methods (injection, static, fluid bed).
  • Experiment and research new materials and processes on the edge of the materials field (conductive plastics, over-molded circuits).

  • MS/ME/PhD Material Science & Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Plastics lab experience
  • Advanced material and process knowledge
  • Report writing, presentation, and publication of technical literature Quantitative analysis and diagnostic testing with qualitative feedback and guidance
  • Electrical & Dielectric Insulation experiences
  • Strong understanding of corrosion and experience in corrosion prevention
  • Plastics forensics analysis experience a bonus
