Job Description

The Control Room Operator is responsible for operating a thermal soil remediation plant in a safe and efficient manner. The Thermal Plant Operator must also document operating conditions, perform inspections, and perform maintenance on the plant.

  • Operate all plant controls and equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and permits and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform and document daily operations, safety, and equipment condition checks.
  • Inspect the condition of the machinery and document items in need of repair or service; diagnose problems and perform mechanical repair and maintenance; replace or repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment; rebuilding or fabricating parts.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and other minor repairs including but not limited to conveyors, screens, drives, screws, bearings, baghouse, kiln, oxidizer, burners, and electrical controls.
  • Work independently in a safe and efficient manner and to follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, including cleaning equipment as scheduled or necessary.

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in operating thermal plant control boards, front-end wheel loaders, excavators, screening, crushing, and material conveying systems, skid steers, or other heavy equipment.
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, and machinery to complete repairs.
  • Experience using computerized systems for operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of experience in use of heavy equipment and/or material processing systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment inspection, preventative maintenance, and cleaning standards.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
