Job Description

  • The purpose of the VP Group Infrastructure & Operations (CTO)role is to define, implement, operate and provide user support to the data center hardware, communication / collaboration infrastructure and end user hardware for BIC globally.
  • In addition to the Infrastructure the CTO will also oversee the IT Services & End User Support Teams, along with Collaboration Tools – including O365, Teams, Wifi, Remote Access policies etc. This includes technology user compliance, infrastructure and systems obsolescence assessments, ensuring the information system environment is up and running 24/7 and the system capacity is aligned with business needs.
  • The role is accountable for the security of the information systems against external threats (e.g. viruses, malware, denial of services, phishing communications etc) targeting data centers, communications networks, applications and end users.
  • In support of the role the CTO will provision monitoring tools and systems listings / cartography to allow the real time tracking of overall system performance, so that preemptive actions can be taken to maintain expected service levels under normal run time and appropriate business continuity plans in the case of infrastructure failures. This will also facilitate the support of recurrent internal / external audits of standards or external licensing compliance during vendor audits.
  • The role will oversee IT governance processes and methods, application architecture and roadmap, along with tracking the expected and actual financial performance of the Group IT function assisting in meeting the functions financial and delivery commitments to the corporation.
  • The role will maintain matrixed relationships with Plant IT based teams ensuring in factory IT equipment & connectivity is compliant with corporate standards and security protocols

Major Duties / Responsibilities

  • Data Center & Infrastructure

    • Define the strategy and roadmap for Data Center Physical and Communications (LAN / WAN / WiFi) standards, assets and physical infrastructure.
    • Sponsor and drive infrastructure architecture standards to drive efficient utilization of hardware via virtualization and the leveraging of cloud based applications to allow for flexible scaling
    • Track, audit and maintain global standards for infrastructure - including consistency of application and access usages allowing seamless movement between BIC sites and continuously monitoring IT Infrastructure for aging and obsolescence
    • Implement a continuous improvement plan, challenging previous choice in the light of new innovative technologies, business organisation and customer needs evolution.
    • Ensure system and access availability according to agreed SLA (e.g.: ERP JDE: 99.9%) with appropriate Business Continuity Plans that are maintained and tested.
  • IT Services & End User Support
    • Provide IT Help Desk support for all users globally, including ticketing, tracking and L0 Support

    • Optimize cost and efficiency by appropriately leveraging and load balance between local teams (NAM, LAM, EU, APAC) and offshore / outsourced activities
    • Hire, develop and manage the different teams located in 10+ different locations
    • Analyse call traffic to identify and resolve recurrent issues and build models to allow for pre-emptive maintenance
    • Select and provision global end user computing standards over PC’s, Core Applications (O365 suite), Printing, Bring Your Own Device linkages to BIC Infrastructure etc
    • Provision and support telephones, telephone exchanges, meeting room, skype rooms and town halls etc
    • Collaboration and track L1+ support activities with the other IT groups to report, analyse and manage to resolution user issues and remediate recurrent issues.
    • Develop and maintain tools, metrics and reporting for servicing internal customers (Roadmap, KPI)
    • Spearhead end user productivity tool adoption and new capabilities adoption
    • Ensure day to day performance management of local teams
  • Technology Security

    • Define and implement a physical & technical security model for data center and communications infrastructure
    • Ensure applications and physical infrastructure are appropriately patched with most recent security updates
    • Thought leader on adoption and integration on off premise solutions and balance of on site, hybrid and off site capabilities, monitoring and management
    • Appropriately monitor and track external threats to the smooth running of the IT infrastructure of BIC
    • Appropriately track and control the access points to BIC’s data making sure that security standards are designed and operating to appropriately balance user productivity and overall BIC systems and data security
  • Technology Compliance

    • Monitor physical infrastructure (owned or leased), application vendor contracts to ensure tracking and compliance aspects are understood and monitored
    • Set standards (equipment & connectivity) for matrixed teams (factories, distribution centers etc) to follow to enable knowledge sharing across the broader IT landscape and LAN/WAN networks
    • Provision data or answer questions in support of application audits
    • Define BCP SLA with the different client businesses over infrastructure and applications and test to validate ability to comply
    • Perform and negotiate IT Infrastructure/customer support purchasing collaborating with IT Purchaser
  • Methods, Governance & Financial Compliance
    • Maintain a listing of all applications & hardware in support of Enterprise Architecture
    • In conjunction with the relevant business stakeholders build and maintain a strategic roadmap of applications – ensuring proposed solutions and activities are aligned to business strategy (invest, maintain, divest)
    • Select vendors, coordinate contract negotiation and maintain vendor relationships in support of all CTO activities.
    • Provision tools and dashboards to allow tracking of performance of IT
    • Build standards for program monitoring, tracking and execution
    • Coordinate due diligence activities and integration plans for new acquisitions or equivalent for disposals
    • Track and monitor global IT budgets
    • Define and manage the IT Infrastructure/customer support budget

Qualifications

  • IT bachelor’s degree completed with proven track record on the various skills and knowledge is more important than education degree
  • Desired professional certification (Microsoft; CISCO; Citrix; EMC…)
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in global infrastructure management
  • Proven ability to build strategic roadmaps, that flex with emerging technology trends
  • Global staff acquisition and team development experience
  • Past experience in managing large, remote teams and service centers
  • Deep industry knowledge of current and emerging technology trends and threats
  • Knowledge and active management of actual and prospective vendors
  • Ability to interact up and down the organization explaining technical activities in a way that is appropriate to the audience
  • ITIL foundation certification
