Role Summary/Purpose :

As the General Manager of Google/Alphabet, this role is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the client relationship and portfolio performance. In addition, drive strategic efforts, provide consultancy and sell-in financing capabilities across the Alphabet ecosystem beyond managing portfolio performance. The role of the General Manager is to effectively grow the Google/Alphabet portfolio to increase assets/accounts, profitably execute growth initiatives, add new additional products and services, lead SYF's cross-functional team, manage assigned resources and grow the business by expanding, deepening, and innovating for the client relationship.

This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities:

Strategy & execution:

  • Develop and manage strategic action plans to achieve performance targets

  • Own and drive overall portfolio financial performance as well as key growth metrics

  • Understand portfolio dynamics to develop, support and implement key business strategies

  • Partner with cross-functional peers in establishing and operationalizing strategies to support the client and drive profitable portfolio growth and evolution

  • Lead, collaborate and partner with SYF’s and Google/Alphabet’s cross-functional teams to develop and launch scalable, repeatable product capabilities that support growth of the portfolio

Client management and innovation:

  • Develop/maintain strong rapport with senior Google/Alphabet clients as well as client day-to-day contacts

  • Understand key client needs – near-term goals and future vision needs; deliver against key client metrics, both tactical (e.g., sales conversion, attach rates, approval rates, growth targets), and strategic (innovation, competitive offerings vs. FinTechs, Tier 1 FI innovation and competition)

  • Be a key leader in driving Synchrony’s strategy/product roadmap forward for this Big Tech client

  • Lead ideation, innovation, expansion in market of SYF products and services to align with Google/Alphabet’s current and future needs, in partnership with SYF cross-functional teams for profitable win-win

  • Represent Synchrony’s interests in negotiations with clients

Synchrony team lead/cross functional team management:

  • Become key relationship manager for all SYF client team functions

  • Work closely with SYF client operations teams to develop/implement training initiatives as needed

  • Assess SYF client team performance against goals and take proactive action as needed

  • Provide leadership to ensure adherence with all external and internal SYF Compliance and Regulatory requirements

Program management:

  • Manage SYF weekly and monthly client and corporate reporting

  • Support SYF business wide initiatives as needed

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 10 years leadership experience in financial services

  • Minimum of 5 years of negotiation experience

  • Digital, FinTech/innovation experience

  • Strong overall knowledge of card business including risk, collections, operations, marketing and finance

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time

Desired Characteristics:

  • SYF, ecommerce, digital experience

  • Clear, effective communicator and negotiator with strong “getting to yes” skills (SYF and Google)

  • High drive, persistence and ability to thrive in ambiguous environments

  • Strategic and execution oriented, with a sense of urgency and responsiveness to Big 4 Tech company’s needs

  • Consultative sales skills and comfortable with open-ended, blue sky problems

  • Data- and fact-driven, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • High energy, high EQ, creative leader able to persuade and lead cross functional teams, with proven track record of success

  • Payments, FinTech/innovation experience

  • MBA

  • Well versed / comfortable working with tech product and engineering teams

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).

The salary range for this position is 115,000.00 - 230,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
