TSG, Architecture and Engineering - Develops, rationalizes and secures target-state architecture across BNY Mellon technology with next-generation engineering solutions focused on risk, resiliency and compliance. By validating architecture and engineering principles and best practices we guide the firm through the technology changes necessary to execute business strategies.

Data and Analytics Solutions (D&A) is a public- and private-cloud-based software and content offering that builds client-centric data, technology, and content capabilities. Operating with the skill and agility of a fintech. D&A combines the expertise and resources of the Eagle product suite (data management, accounting, and performance) and Intermediary Analytics sales and distribution data. The offering also includes a suite of new cloud-based products and other BNY Mellon technology and data assets. Moreover, the division further extends BNY Mellon-s Asset Servicing capabilities in securities and cash into the world-s most important asset class, data.

TSG D&A Infrastructure & Corporate IT team is small group (50 people) of tightly knit individuals located across the globe that provide technical support for 8000+ virtual machines and 1200 users dedicated to the D&A business. We are wholly responsible for the network, servers, storage, end user compute and various business applications supporting this LOB. We proudly support these services out of 5 distinct data centers and the public cloud, providing 99.99% scheduled uptime.

The Role

Infrastructure Engineering/Operations Specialist Our Business Applications team (BizApps) provides administrative services for BNYM Data & Analytics Solutions' enterprise environments/ecosystems. Responsibilities include day-to-day operational care as well as strategic oversight for more than 2 dozen applications hosted through SaaS, IaaS, PaaS and self-hosted. In addition to ensuring fully compliant, uninterrupted service to our employees and clients, BizApps delivers subject matter expertise for each environment under its administration, as well as troubleshooting of complex issues with its primary stakeholders. BizApps also monitors all devices on the BNYM D&A networks to ensure active support is available. Lastly, BizApps collects, reports, and maintains all BNYM D&A device information to update the BNYM Configuration Management database (CMDB). You will be tasked with ownership of enterprise applications to fulfill ongoing operational service and strategic growth of BNYM D&As application stack (e.g., Knowledgebase, Wiki, Defect Tracking, Document Management, Enterprise Social, Enterprise Search, Chat, SSO, etc). Responsibility for production servers requires some off-hours attention to minimize breaks in application availability. BizApps is a close-knit team that shares its workload to ensure BNYM D&A experiences uninterrupted service for all of its enterprise application responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to developing and monitoring the organization's technology architecture and future technology vision. Develops reports in conjunction with the Fellow Architect which demonstrate business opportunities and road map strategies that add business value.
  • Designs, implements, integrates, and provides full support for software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment. Researches the appropriate system software to meet corporate standards and objectives for system performance. May allocate/coordinate work within a team/project.
  • Formulates plans to meet system objectives for the corporation; works in all phases of system analysis, implementation measurement, and reporting.
  • Installs, configures, and develops middleware utility programs and related distributed system software on multiple mainframe/distributed hardware/software environments. Collaborates and consults with application development teams to determine platform selection, efficient transaction design, and use.
  • Provides input and recommends processes in developing project plans. Monitors project progress and provides regular status reports to management team.
  • Works closely with Application Development and Quality Assurance and Testing teams to understand infrastructure needs during the development and testing processes. Applies IT expertise in strategizing how to best develop infrastructure that will allow development and testing processes to be secure and efficient.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the organization's existing infrastructure technology. Stays informed of current industry trends and emerging technologies. Researches and analyzes trends to recommend and implement upgrades that enhance the reliability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure.
  • Conducts and leads analysis to correct systems, applications, software, and hardware that are not compliant with Corporate policy/procedures.
  • Performs more complex production support tasks.
  • Achieve subject matter expertise in at least one of the tools/techologies administered by the team.
  • Automates basic manual processes.
  • Communicates both formally and informally with customers and end users.
  • Provide cross training to team members.
  • Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives.

Applies IT expertise in strategizing how to best develop infrastructure that will allow development and testing processes to be secure and efficient.Evaluates the effectiveness of the organization's existing infrastructure technology.
