- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent; Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years development experience, capable of designing and implementing complex and high-performance solutions in the financial services industry (preferably in Retirement Services, Wealth Management, Insurance / Annuities); Development experience must be including frontend, backend, database and Integration technologies.
- Experience with Recordkeeping platforms like Omni, Relius will be preferred
- Experience in cloud application design, development, and deployment including large scale upgrade and migration of application(s) to Azure and/or AWS;
- Skilled leading and/or participating in system design and architectural activities including technical requirement writing experience and ability to lead collaboration sessions for important design reviews and decisions.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work in a team-based environment
- Ability to help and drive root cause and resolution of major incidents causing production stability issues, including active participation in cross discipline incident resolutions process
- Strong understanding of both Agile and Waterfall software engineering principles (SDLC) and methodologies and operational best practices
- Capable of designing and implementing complex solutions with technologies; HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JAVA, NodeJS, SpringBoot, Python, GraphQL, APIs, Kafka as well as Cloud Native Services for Storage, Databases, Messaging/Queuing/Events, Auto-scaling, Key Management Services, Caching and Monitoring
- Knowledge of user authentication and authorization flows between multiple systems, servers, and environments
- Experience with containerization - Kubernetes and/or Docker for Java and/or .NET based applications
- Experience with SOA/Microservices based architecture, API management, Session/Token management with the API Gateway like Data Power.
- Experience with event streaming and web service protocols like SOAP, REST, JSON, RabbitMQ, or Kafka
- Experience with data development, including database design, modeling, ETL and scheduling
- Experience with Design Patterns and modeling tools
- Knowledge of insurance data, investment data and/or financial data;
- Knowledge of insurance and investment industry standards and protocols (e.g. DTCC, ACORD)
- Strong understanding of databases, cloud computing, and software development lifecycle
- Experience with relational (Oracle/SQL Server/MySQL) and object/NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB/MongoDB)
- Experience with creating and maintain database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Strong understanding of DevOps- CI/CD - tools like GitHub, Jenkin, Sonar, XLDeploy and Veracode - DAST/SAST
- Experience with 2 or more JavaScript framework (e.g. Angular, ReactJS)
- Awareness of quality practice, TDD, BDD and unit test strategy
