Farm Operations and Property Management (Warren County, NJ)

Delaware, Delaware 00000 Delaware USA

Vacancy expired!

Full-time; 12-month. Salary competitive and commensurate with experience.

Seeking a talented and resourceful professional to help run and revitalize a beautiful preserved farm and adjacent properties in rural New Jersey (Warren County) near the Pennsylvania border. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone excited about helping to design and build a new small-farm enterprise with excellent support and facilities. I am seeking someone who will provide professional oversight and carry out the regular maintenance of the property while making improvements to both the property and the operations. This position will research and evaluate options for redevelopment of the farm which has focused only on hay production for the last ten years. As a small operation, this position will regularly provide physical labor to support the farm operations and will manage additional contracted or salaried employees associated with both regular seasonal farm activities as well as new projects.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s or Masters degree in agriculture or related field or sub-field preferred. Candidates who do not have a Bachelor’s degree but otherwise meet all of the requirements will be considered.

Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a professional in the commercial agricultural environment or running a family/small farm operation preferred. Young professionals just starting out will be considered if you have relevant experience, such as an agricultural degree and experience growing up on a working family farm.

Knowledge of and interest in contemporary agricultural practices and their application in the regional setting. This position requires general knowledge of agricultural and woodland management with the ability and interest to problem solve and seek practical solutions, whether using old-fashioned common sense or innovative science and technology.

Ability to carry out independent research to support decision-making in all aspects of farm operations and management.

Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic.

Collaborative, with strong communication skills.

Knowledge of and ability to carry out regular maintenance and repairs related to farm operations, as well as improvements to land and forest. Interest in learning new skills pertinent to the job.

Some financial and budget management experience preferred.

Computer skills to support planning, management, and research efforts required.

Valid driver’s license and successful background check required.

This position is open to all qualified candidates, regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law.

To apply:
