Verdant Plant Health Care was founded in 2015 to provide property owners and managers in northern Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania with technical expertise on the natural and human-caused issues that can affect a landscape.

Our goal is to educate our clients about the factors impacting the health of their trees and shrubs. When needed, we specialize in providing solutions that maximize the beauty, functionality, and safety of the landscape, while always considering the impact on non-target insects, microbes, and wildlife.

We have quickly become a well-respected voice in the regional green industry, and are regularly consulted by the best landscaping, lawn, and tree companies in the area. Verdant services properties of all sizes, from large estates and commercial sites to small urban gardens.

Verdant is growing, and we are currently a seeking a Plant Health Care Technician to join our team. This is a part-time position (approximately 25 hours per week), but has the potential to become full-time. Responsibilities will include:

Applying a variety of landscape health treatments including foliar sprays, soil injections, and trunk injections according to ANSI A300 standards.

Maintaining application records.

Conducting product inventories.

Operating a variety of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, trailers, forklifts, and off-road vehicles.

Assisting with the maintenance and repair of Verdant’s fleet and equipment, including hydraulic spraying systems.

Adhering to ANSI Z133 Safety Requirements for Arboricultural Operations.

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, arboriculture, entomology, plant pathology, etc. preferred)

Knowledge of common ornamental trees and shrubs with the ability to identify species in the field.

Prior experience in pesticide application is desirable.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to product rates and volumes.

Willingness to work independently and efficiently according to a pre-set route or schedule.

Fluency in English with the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with Verdant team members and clients.

A valid driver’s license. Verdant will require a current DMV record prior to hiring.

Must have or be willing to obtain a DOT medical card by passing a physical examination within (1) week of hire.

Previous experience driving large trucks (greater than 10,000 GVWR) and towing trailers is strongly desirable.

Must be willing and able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, stand for prolonged amounts of time, and lift/pull 50 pounds.

Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background screening and opioid drug test.
