The Architecture Sr Group Manager manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function as an intergral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of business.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages an architecture functional area.
  • Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations and other personnel actions.
  • Responsible for providing architectural vision for all IT systems, ensuring that architecture conforms to enterprise blueprints.
  • Develops architecture, strategy, planning, and problem solving solutions on an enterprise level. Interfaces across several channels, acting as a visionary to proactively assist in defining direction for future projects.
  • Maintains continuous awareness of business, technical and infrastructure issues and acts as a sounding board or consultant to aid in the development of creative solutions.
  • Interfaces with vendors to assess their technology and to guide their product roadmap based on Citi requirements.
  • Exhibits sound understanding of theories and practices in architecture and multiple related areas.
  • Has in depth knowledge of how technology integrates within the organization and of direct competitors products and services.
  • Requires evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated or novel situations; uses multiple sources of information.
  • Impacts the overall technology function through responsibility for planning, finances/budget, end results, setting policies and contribution to strategic decisions.
  • Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate and negotiate with external parties.

Knowledge/ experience:

The successful candidate will be a seasoned technologist who has experience in large scale technology transformation. Ideal candidates should be passionate about Technology and have a mindset to be technically hands on if needed. Well versed in the latest trends, especially around disruptive technology, and proven record in execution.

  • The candidate will be able to demonstrate their progression from a highly technical background, with deep knowledge of software development process and practices along with deep knowledge of architecture & complex systems.
  • Proven track record of running a cross functional horizontal team, supporting multiple delivery teams
  • A strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives, maintaining a balanced and fresh viewpoint.

Qualifications:
  • 15+ years relevant experience
  • Past knowledge/experience transforming application portfolios from monolithic to a micro-services-based architecture.
  • Understand and design reference architectures and be able to conform to enterprise blueprints.
  • Tangible hands on experience in evaluating and shaping data and information strategy, tooling strategy and application development process.
  • Hands on experience working with Cloud providers AWS, Google, Azure and Red Hat, Expertise in API Management technology stacks such as IBM API Connect or Apigee.
  • You should have a disruptive innovative mindset that will make innovation mainstream and help the business take strides in an extremely competitive environment
  • Experience with the following AWS tech stack components:
  • EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Redshift, Athena, EMR, Cloudwatch
  • Or Experience with the following Google Cloud Platform tech stack components:
  • Dataproc, DataFlow, BigTable, BigQuery, Cloud Storage
  • Past experience with Java, JS frameworks, spring, RDBMS or NoSQL Databases
  • Previous experience of micro services application design.
  • Experience in deployment of containerized application using Docker / OpenShift
  • Working knowledge of build / ship command using Docker, Docker Compose and Kubernetes.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to develop working relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with ability to take the initiative and master new tasks quickly

Education:
  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree and managerial experience
Key responsibilities for this role will include,

  • Create a cross functional team that will govern Architecture principals and tollgate process to measure that
  • Build and deliver on an automated CICD pipeline by consolidating the DevOps function across multiple areas into one
  • Work closely with the vertical functional leads on a common goal and deliver to their needs
  • Manage all non-production infrastructure environments and be the face off to Enterprise Engineering teams
  • Evangelize API and Micro-services architectural and governance methodologies and influence buy in from diverse set of key stakeholders.
  • Define governance model around accountability and ownership for cross functional teams
  • Develop architecture standards, architectural frameworks, and guidelines based on proven architecture experience in building horizontally scalable, highly available, high throughput applications.
  • Disrupt existing traditional platforms and redesign for adoption of micro-services, including internal and external cloud (hybrid cloud).
  • Design instrumentation procedures and systems that analyse services performance and traceability.
  • Help unblock enterprise challenges, with a focus on meeting security, risk and compliance standards with a standardized approach that enables rapid adoption of cloud across regions.
  • Communicate risks and guide senior managers and teams in developing highly scalable, traceable, resilient and secure solutions.
  • Follow technology trends in leading software engineering/integration and design and understand how they impact our future solution and drive strategic direction for the development community.
  • Improve the cross-product architecture and technology stack across the group by driving more modern development methods including Continuous Integration-Continuous Delivery and DevOps
