About this role

About BlackRock

At BlackRock, we are all connected by one mission: to help more and more people experience financial well-being. Our clients, and the people they serve, are saving for retirement, paying for their children's educations, buying homes and starting businesses. Their investments also help to strengthen the global economy: support businesses small and large; finance infrastructure projects that connect and power cities; and facilitate innovations that drive progress.

This mission would not be possible without our smartest investment - the one we make in our employees. It's why we're dedicated to creating an environment where our colleagues feel welcomed, valued and supported with networks, benefits and development opportunities to help them thrive.

Technology & Operations

Technology & Operations is the backbone for both the client lifecycle and the investment lifecycle. The group's Follow the Sun Model ensures that the firm's operations are consistent and efficient across all investment products, client channels and regions, helping to deliver a superior client experience and drive scalability. Technology & Operations is driven by a global network of Operating Centers of Excellence, which centralizes knowledge and equips support teams with the data and timely information needed to innovate and deliver on behalf of internal partners and clients.

The Splunk engineering & operations team is responsible for managing the Splunk Technology environment. This includes the Splunk on-premise and cloud clusters. Splunk is a key component of the processes at BlackRock and we look to bring in a wide area of data sets. The team collaborates across all technology teams to bring value to their data sets and bring visibility what they are trying to do. We strive to keep our systems running at a high performance benchmark while keeping operational issues to a minimum.

As a Splunk Engineer, you will:
  • Assist and provide expert best practices in adoption, expansion, additional use cases and in setting up Splunk.
  • Support large-scale deployments with data feeds from a variety of data sources that include on premise data centers and cloud.
  • Grow and improve the enterprise Splunk environment from early stages to a mature implementation by creating forwarder apps to ingest our data
  • Support and guide other colleagues across BlackRock that may include Splunk Administrators, Architects, Knowledge Managers, Developers and Users for increasing Splunk adoption and overall customer success.
  • Act as the Splunk liaison for Splunk technical questions, issues or escalations. This will include working with Splunk Support, Product Management (i.e. roadmaps), or others as needed.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Create and maintain documentation related to architecture and operational processes for Splunk
  • Engage application and infrastructure teams to establish best practices for utilizing Splunk data and visualization.
  • Drive complex deployments of Splunk dashboards and reports while working side by side with the customers to solve their unique problems across a variety of use cases

What You'll Need:
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in Information Technology
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience with SPLUNK in one of the following areas: IT Operations, compliance, dev ops, network security, and system security, supporting security event management tools (SIEMs)
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience with rule and advanced logic creation within SPLUNK
  • Splunk Certified Administrator, Splunk Certified Architect and/or a Splunk Certification is preferred.
  • Experience with python programming a plus

Our benefits
