National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) has an opening for a Principal Application Systems Engineerin Wilmington, DE.

Job Duties: Support, develop and enhance the critical distributed technology applications used by the Operations Department. On call production environment support. Troubleshoot production issues. Develop and manage integration and/or deployment activities. Lead, participate and manage changes, transition or general continuous improvement activities relative to the applications of responsibility. Document changes to architecture, design, integration while maintaining support documentation for both business and IT. Monitor and support all services, systems and performance metrics to meet the SLAs. Support testing activities for all environments during deployment of any changes. Manage incidents, changes, and problems to delivery high quality services to the customers. Responsible for implementing, enhancing, and supporting key applications in the Train Operations space. Conduct workshops with Engineering, Mechanical and Real Estate departments to understand business requirements driven by FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) guidelines. Document changes to architecture, design, integration while maintaining support documentation for both business and IT. Build application packages for production and non-production environments, as well as manage build configuration. Collaborate with development team to address all the defects/bugs reported during UAT and System Integration testing. Coordinate with various stake holders about the application deployment, timelines, and outage management.

Requirements: Employer will accept Bachelor's degree in technology, engineering or a related field and 7 years of progressive post bachelor's experience as a job offered, or 7 years of progressive, post-bachelor's experience in a related occupation. Experience must also include the following: 1) understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards. 2) Focus on business goals while ensuring development is completed on time. 3) Experience/in-depth knowledge of business operations and systems requirements processes including ability to measure short- and long-term business goals. 4) Ability to utilize adaptable communication skills to effectively translate between technical and business language. 5) Experience in educating project team members on business unit goals, objectives, and initiatives. 6) Ability to identify, propose and oversee the execution of business solutions as well as interpret documents communicating business needs and requirements. 7) Must possess the skill to assess the client needs through direct interaction and identify opportunities to develop the business through effective use of technology. 8) troubleshooting skills.
