SummaryThis position is part of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Government Publishing Office in Washington , District of Columbia.ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent of this position serves a Civilian Pay Technician in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of the Agency Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Cash Management Services, and Payroll section. Incumbent provides review, data entry, correction, transmission and WebTA, coordinates and acts as a liaison among employees, managers time keepers, supervisors, Supervisory Payroll Managers and the National Finance Center (NFC). As a Civilian Payroll Technician, your typical work assignments may include the following: The employee provides one-on-one liaison services between employees, timekeepers, supervisor, the Human Capital Office (HC) and the National Finance Center (NFC). Serves as the point-of-contact to receive documents that affect pay and to distribute various reports. Maintains files, performs local record keeping and provides customer service to employees. Serves as a point-of-contact for time and attendance input and maintenance to include reconciliations, troubleshooting and corrections. The employee performs other payroll-type duties concerning general document processing, to include the actual input of obligations, accruals, and closeout of documents within automated systems. The selectee will work shift 1 and a tour of duty from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Additional vacancies may be filled through this announcement.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsTo qualify for the Civilian Payroll Technician, PG -0544-9, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at the PG-8 (or equivalent) grade level or higher. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, abilities, and characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Qualifying specialized experience includes: Proficient navigation of pay systems (WebTA, and National Finance Center (NFC) to create employee records and to verify/validate the accuracy of information entered for personnel actions processed; researching pay and leave data and information to address inquiries and to determine resolutions to problems or issues; and providing guidance and instruction to others experiencing issues with pay and leave systems. Applicants who do not meet the Selective Placement Factors are ineligible for further consideration. Selective Placement Factors are a prerequisite to appointment or placement and represent minimum requirement for a position. You must address the Selective Placement Factor(s) in a separate attachment to your resume. Selective Placement Factor #1: I have 1 year of experience using the following NFC applications: EpicWeb, SPPS, NFC mainframe and others. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
