Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will contribute to assessing and identifying potential insurance risks that may threaten the reputation, safety, security, and/or the financial success of Fannie Mae. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and external insurance industry experts to minimize insurance-related risks, as well as support insurance risk policy development. You will develop and manage insurance requirements for multifamily properties; and decision routine and complex waiver requests associated with these requirements. Insurance Associates must apply technical understanding of insurance principles, underwriting practices, and laws - both state and federal.

The Commercial Insurance Risk & Compliance Analyst role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Identify, research and analyze insurance market trends and update Multifamily Seller Servicer Guide requirements.
  • Determine property risks, controls, and appropriate and adequate mitigants associated with waiver requests.
  • Decision new and post-closing waivers.
  • Provide professional verbal and written responses and feedback to questions, requests, and challenging insurance matters presented by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Train stakeholders on Fannie Mae insurance requirements.
  • Manage ongoing risk activities related to performing loans; annual assessment of lender insurance compliance including detailed review of selected loan files.
  • Represent insurance on routine and non-routine projects where a subject matter expert is needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 2 years relevant experience

Desired Experiences

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Insurance industry experience (Commercial Insurance preferred)
  • Knowledge of Multifamily property risks and required coverages
  • Ability to identify property and liability risks, controls and mitigants
  • Technical understanding of insurance principles, underwriting, and legal requirements to address insurance issues with customers.
  • Ability to work independently

  • Experience in the process of analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data
  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
  • The group of skills related to Risk Assessment and Management including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying control gaps, remediating risk, etc.
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions
