Description:The Junior LAN Engineer will provide support to Verizon's Lead LAN Engineer and to its customers, guiding each into the future by being the foremost expert in leveraging the established and emerging (i.e. LAN/WAN, WLAN, Virtual Network Services, and SDN) technologies to solve real-world business problems. They must also be versed in various cloud platform providers and solutions (SD-WAN, Viptela, Versa, and Velocloud), leading manufacturers in the networking space, virtualization and orchestration technologies. They must demonstrate this expertise through individual actions as well as an ability to collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams.The Junior LAN Engineer will work with internal stakeholders across multiple business groups to spur innovation and drive business growth through: Professional Service Offers Creative use of technology Emerging technologies / Network Transformation, SD-WAN, LAN, WAN and Cloud security Implementation and configuration of new proposed technologies.The Junior LAN Engineer will work Lead LAN Engineer and with customers to mesh activities between people, technology, and the architectures necessary to implement strategies that allow Enterprise customers to innovate, drive operational and technical efficiencies, improve technical performance, and deliver a more responsive network environment.

In this role, you'll be responsible for: Consistently demonstrate the value of Verizon Professional Services by delivering highly professional and successful engagements. Review and analyze current technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic objectives. Identify technology and current LAN/WAN & SD-WAN environment limitations and cross reference them to client's business drivers. Recommend to Lead LAN Engineer specific strategies, initiatives and remedies necessary to align technology and infrastructure with corporate objectives. Support development of business drivers, business case and high-level program implementation plan aligned to a strategy to both maximize Client benefit realization and Verizon revenue. Translate Client business issues/opportunities into technical solution/business requirements. Collaborate with presales engineering and client on strategic architectural planning to achieve goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future state architectures. Provide expertise documenting proposed designs on both HLD and LLD to be delivered to the client Provide expertise documenting Enterprise network related changes to be used for change management. Demonstrated history of subject matter expertise within claimed specialty (IEs), for example: routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP), L2 networks (RSTP, STP, 802.1x, 802.1Q, DHCP option 43 and 60), Transport (MPLS, DIAs, Cellular WAN and QoS, advanced configurations, etc. Demonstrated history of subject matter expertise within claimed specialty (IEs), for example: Access Layer, Distribution Layer and Core Layer, advanced configurations, to include and not limited to include (High Availability architectures, VTP, DHCP, Layer 2 Security, VLANs, Trunking protocols and re-distribution of routing protocols).

You'll need to have: BSc or BEng degree in Computer Science or related field or work experience equivalent, 7+ years of experience within global enterprise network engineering and other data communications fields. Strong background in Enterprise networks and Networking/Internetworking devices, protocols and operating systems. Architecture, design, and development of end to end Networking Solutions for Verizon customers (Cisco, Juniper, HPe Aruba, Riverbed). Professional or higher level industry certifications within the network engineering field such as CCNP, JNCIP (any track), CCIE. Demonstrated expertise in network design -ability to lead a LAN design-related discussion with leading questions to fully vet a customer's requirements and develop a proposed design fulfilling said requirements, identify potential impacts of a given design recommendation, knowledge of other technologies and their network requirements/impact, ability to produce comprehensive yet understandable technical documentation (design document, diagrams, etc.) Possess a deep understanding of network and web related protocols such as, HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, IPSEC, and other routing protocols Provide capacity planning for all ISP, LAN and WAN bandwidth, network interconnect devices, and data centers. Also, monitor, reconfigure and tune network hardware. The ability to prepare technical reports, client presentations, design documentation, and manuals. A willingness to travel to customer locations and work away from home Able to perform a wide variety of technical and organizational tasks and may lead or direct the work of others. Experience with the following: Enterprise level network implementations, in multiple industries, in addition to NFV and Software Defined services Demonstrated knowledge of, and interest in, emerging technologies such SD-WAN, Network Transformation/Optimization, MEC and 5G with a focus on Enterprise use cases.
