National Railroad Passenger Corporation has an opening for Lead Technologist in Washington DC

Duties : Research and analyze technologies within an area of required expertise. Assess emerging technologies and evaluate and recommend new products or tools for the organization. Make recommendations and influence long-term technology strategy and planning for multiple business units. Assist in the development and analysis of source selection strategies. Work with service providers to ensure that their in-scope technical solutions are consistent with the enterprise business strategy and architecture. Serve as a consultant and escalation point for issues and provide project managers with technical consultation and advice, enabling quick response to inquiries related to the program/project. Provide technical analysis to help define, assess, and monitor the technical aspects of the program/project or service. Design innovative solutions using new technologies and recommend short-term alternatives when appropriate. Troubleshoot existing information systems or networks to identify errors or deficiencies. Brainstorm possible solutions and evaluate alternatives against decision criteria. Work with vendors during problem resolution process as needed.

Requirements : Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field follow by six years of experience in the job offered or six years of experience in a related occupation. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree employer will accept an additional two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Experience must include: 1) Application support of multiple systems and platforms, including: MQ, Jboss, Websphere, AWS, as well as other Middleware platforms; 2) Source code management tools: Git, Bitbucket, Maven, SVN, Jenkins, Devops; 3) Communication protocols and technologies specifically API's, REST, JSON, XML and CLI tools; 4) Developed and maintain various enterprise applications using Java, JEE, JSP, Servlet, Javascript, HTML5 using IDEs; 5) Maintain solution architecture for enterprise applications that are secure, reliable, and cost effective following AWS best practices using AWS CLI, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SNS , SQS, cloud formation template, supporting products on AWS cloud leveraging microservices; 6) IBM MQ Applications and the infrastructure for upgrading MQ versions for enterprise applications; 7) Monitor applications KPIs using monitoring tools such as Sitescope, Kibana, AppDynamics; 8) Deploying and configuring java enterprise applications on application servers Websphere, Weblogic, and Jboss; 9) Writing SQL and stored procedures using Oracle 12c; 10) Manage fault tolerant, redundant and resilient Application Infrastructure/clusters in non-production and production environments; 11) Change management tools SNOW, SCCD for creating changes and tracking incidents All positions require pre-employment background check verification, a pre-employment drug screen and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.
