JOB SUMMARY Linux Security Engineer We are looking for a Linux engineer to join the Security Engineering team for a Federal contract in the DC area. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate and wants to break into the Digital Security domain as you work closely with our Senior Linux Security Engineer to bolster the security and sysadmin best practices of our large network and fleet of bare-metal and virtualized Linux servers. You will be responsible for making crucial improvements to our network and host-based security. What You'll Get To Do:- You will be responsible for making crucial improvements to network and host-based security solutions based on Linux operating systems
- Day to day duties include: isolating software/hardware issues; provisioning physical and cloud servers with Ansible; patch management; vulnerability remediation
- Respond to information security incidents, providing technical expertise
- Manage access control, firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, security logging, and vulnerability scanning
- Help administer internal Linux-based software tools and self-hosted services that support the entire Engineering department
- Coordinate with Security Operation Center and Security Engineers to facilitate automation and self-service deployment of infrastructure
- Maintain technical documentation of our network infrastructure
- 5 years of experience in IT
- 2 years Linux sysadmin experience at midsize or large organizations
- Experience in writing internal tools with Python or PHP
- Familiarity with Docker or similar containerization technology
- Experience with configuration tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think abstractly, outside the box, etc
- Collaborative- You understand that solving problems is a team effort
- Experience with AWS administration
- Practical experience implementing host-based security solutions such as Wazuh, OSSEC, active-response measures, IDS rulesets
- Experience with SSO/SAML, AD/LDAP, or other Identify Management Solutions within Linux networks
- Bachelor's Degree in a Technical field (i.e. Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science)
- DoD 8140.01 / DoD 8570.01-M.IAT Level II Certification
- DoD 8570.01-M.CSSP Infrastructure Support Certification
- Active TS/SCI Clearance (must obtain a CI Poly within 6 months of start date) (US Citizenship required)
