Job Description Our client is a respected publication that covers the most important and exciting research, ideas and knowledge in science, health, technology, the environment, and society. Since its conception, the magazine has published articles by more than 200 Nobel Prize winners and reaches more than 6 million people around the world each month through its website, print and digital editions, newsletters and app. They are searching for a Data Engineer that will design and build the foundational technology used to understand their audience and business, including building and maintaining large, performant databases for business and user data; creating scalable API REST services to integrate data back into the CMS and reader experience; building and maintaining pipelines connecting their data with third-party services; pipelining data so that it can be used for real-time decisioning; and more. Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable, multi-year experience in data engineering.
- Experience maintaining web applications with high traffic levels
- Experience in Python or similar languages.
- Experience implementing ETL pipelines.
- Experience working in AWS.
- Deep understanding of common open source databases (MySQL, Postgres, etc.).
- Experience with best practices around testing, security, and privacy compliance.
- Past experience in news media or publishing is a huge plus.
