Do it here.What you’ll be doingThe Verizon Privacy Office is seeking an experienced attorney to provide counseling on a broad range of privacy topics, including advising product teams on privacy best practices and compliance in connection with new and evolving products and services. You will counsel multiple internal client groups and support several Privacy Office initiatives with an emphasis on U.S. privacy compliance.Conduct thorough privacy legal reviews for new and evolving products and services and provide strategic guidance regarding U.S. federal and state privacy laws, Verizon’s internal and external privacy policies, and best privacy practices.

Provide day-to-day privacy support through all stages of product and service lifecycle including counseling on privacy best practices, privacy by design and compliance with privacy laws.

Prepare privacy policies and other end-user notices.

Assess privacy risks for supplier and strategic partner relationships.

Evaluate and negotiate supplier and partnership agreement data privacy provisions.

Work cross functionally with teams responsible for reviewing Verizon’s privacy impact assessments and advise on the sufficiency and execution of remediation plans for products and services within your portfolio.

Evaluate privacy legislation and regulations for potential impact on the company and assist public policy teams on the development of internal and external policy positions.

Counsel and train employees to ensure best practices in areas of privacy protection.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.What we’re looking forYou'll need to have:JD degree and six or more years of work experience.

Member in good standing of the bar of at least one state.

Three or more years of experience either at government agency, legal or policy firm, or in-house legal department with experience in issues related to data privacy.

Familiarity with U.S. federal and state privacy laws.

Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:Experience with privacy-by-design such as experience conducting privacy reviews of new products and enhancements to existing products and preparing privacy and end user notices.

Experience advising on privacy compliance.

Experience with assessing privacy risks for third party or supplier relationships.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and devise solutions to legal issues under tight deadlines and with limited supervision.

Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully managing complex projects from inception to completion.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to interact comfortably with personnel in various roles and levels.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple internal and external groups simultaneously to quickly achieve common goals.

Experience communicating with federal or state regulators.

Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and highly-developed analytical reasoning skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google G Suite products.

Capability to be energetic and committed with a passion for innovative, cutting edge technology.
