The MCAT Product and Implementation Specialist is responsible for coordinating the design, development, and deployment of MCAT business solutions, service integrations, and major upgrades on our legacy applications. The role bridges the business and technical worlds helping to coordinating cross-functional teams, managing, and ensuring the success of project work, understanding all the relevant stakeholders, work of the unit, needs of the users, testing cycle and other timelines, implications of decisions, and intended results. Job Description: The MCAT Product and Implementation Specialist will work with the Director of Product Manager to solicit detailed information about MCAT program needs from business owners and translate and define business requirements to ensure they are accurate, sufficiently detailed, and actionable. The Product and Implementation Specialist will be a major contributor to requirements specification deliverables, writing business and functional requirements, and supporting efforts to implement technical products. For products that are in place, the Product and Implementation Specialist will work with IT partners to ensure that they continue to function as intended, to quickly resolve any problems that arise, and to oversee the implementation of improvements. In managing the work, the Product and Implementation Specialist exerts intellectual and managerial leadership, coordinating cross-functional teams and acting with a clear vision and sense of ownership. The Product and Implementation Specialist will take personal responsibility for decisions, actions, timelines, and failures, establishing clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results, and providing actionable feedback and solutions at critical times. Job responsibilities
  • With MCAT Product Management and Technical Operations Director, this role assists in the prioritization of software development and changes to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time.
  • Works with technical team to clarify requirements/user stories and prioritize the scope based on business value, technical feasibility, and development estimates.
  • Designs business cases, user flows, and high-level behavior for new features and works with the technical team to refine and improve development process.
  • Writes and defines user stories, utilizing experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Assists in overseeing MCAT acceptance testing for AAMC and contractor-developed solutions.
  • Helps identify and manage risk for overall implementation, development, and execution. Escalates issues to stakeholders as appropriate. Additionally, in collaboration with the MCAT Product Management and Technical Operations Director and IT partners, remediates problems and quickly restores services.
  • For products that are in place, works closely with the technical and MCAT Product Management and Technical Operations Director. to analyze operational issues, impact, resolution options and timelines to fix issues.
  • Assists in monitoring and measuring launched software products and helps incorporate the learnings back into the product development process.
  • Communicates software product plans and results to MCAT Product Management and Technical Operations Director.
What should they bring to this role?
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with product ownership is required.
  • Experience as an AGILE product owner is preferred.
  • CSPO certification is preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of project management, risk management, IT management, business administration.
  • Ability to effectively assist in translating and defining business requirements into epics user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to work seamlessly with and lead cross-disciplinary teams from business, IT, and customer/user support.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in parallel, work against aggressive deadlines with high degree of accuracy, constantly adapting to changing business requirements.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and other collaborative project tools -i.e. Confluence and Java
  • Experience with multiple software development methodologies, Agile (Scrum, Kanban) is preferred
