Senior Production and Systems Engineer (Video)

The Senior Production & Systems Engineer (SPSE) collaborates with the production team to develop and manage workflows for the GPA Video Office. The SPSE is an experienced digital video engineer who can provide assistance during live studio productions, handle both on-premises and hybrid post-production workflows and oversee infrastructure upgrades. Responsibilities include the installation and maintenance of video, audio, and other equipment within the Digital Video Pre and Postproduction environment. Proficiency in cloud-based workflows, such as Adobe Creative Cloud editing, AWS, and Media Asset Management, is essential. Staying current with technology advancements and available resources is crucial for this position.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Video Production Systems Engineering
  • Strong leadership and exceptional communication skills
  • 21st century skill set, a great team-oriented attitude and a dedication to quality.
  • Knowledge of live studio, Pre and Postproduction applications, and remote workflows
  • Experience designing and installing remote and local Video Technology equipment to improve workflows.
  • Previous experience working for the Department of State is a plus

Responsibilities
  • As an experienced digital video engineer, the SPSC provides support for live studio productions, postproduction workflows, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Installation and maintenance of video, audio, and other equipment associated with live video production, as well as pre and postproduction operations.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for a wide range of hardware and software, including video editing workstations, both on-site and remotely.
  • Manages software versioning including Operating Systems, firmware, and creative tools for digital video hardware, local area network, workstations, and applications throughout the production division.
  • Trains and mentors Editors, Producers, and other staff on technology applications, usage, and workflows.
  • Responds to trouble calls related to broadcast or computer equipment, sometimes outside of normal business hours.
  • Ensures software versions are up to date, adheres to software license compliance, and follows IT security directives.
  • Assists in planning future equipment installations, requirements, and budget recommendations.
  • Collaborates with Video Office Project Managers, Division Chiefs, Creatives, IT Team, and other stakeholders to design, pre-plan, and manage the Production LAN and its components.
  • Administers the Video Media Asset Management (VMAM) system, including user management, Active Directory / domain administration, workflow management, policy implementation, security / authentication, and access management.
  • Assists VMAM users with content management. Performs deletes (upon user request). Monitors backup and restore operations for Video Office VMAM data.
