We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories and that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world.The Portal SW TPM team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs and delivering them to market at scale. Portal seeks a Technical Program Manager, Platform Software. In this role, you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside partners and vendors to develop optimal solutions. You will make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional project teams.The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading complex software development efforts and will have a technical understanding of h/w and s/w components involved in foundational layers of consumer products. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to manage projects, develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.Required Skills: Manage Portal Software Programs to develop a robust, modular platform that allows Portal product teams to build high-quality performant and reliable services and experiences for our users.

Cooperate with different teams and functions in Portal Organization as well as in greater Facebook to bring optimized software solutions to Portal products.

Build, coordinate, and maintain schedules, and track execution at task level across cross-functional teams, manage shared resources, and ensure timely delivery.

Capture and keep detailed and well-organized records of cross-functional communication, meetings, problems and risks.

Identify resources needed and work closely with team leaders to maintain full visibility of the project schedule and potential roadblocks.

Work with teams to alleviate project bottlenecks and escalate the need to resolve issues when executive support is required.

Build and manage relationships with hardware, software and external partners, including creating statements of work.

Drive deliverables from external partners and ensure that they have the information and resources needed to succeed.

Understand and communicate technical information to non-experts.

Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in technical program management.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working on consumer electronics products.

Experience in relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.

Experience in organizing, coordination and multitasking.

Experience understanding product requirements and translating needs into plans.

Preferred Qualifications: Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated experience to self-motivate and follow through on projects autonomously.

Experience managing projects involving BSP and application framework.

Technical knowledge in domains such as wireless connectivity, audio, video, camera, biometrics, and machine learning.

Technical knowledge in low latency, high performance audio/video processing and transmission, consumer device performance and power efficiency, and software reliability.

Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of software engineers, hardware engineers, applied scientists, product managers.
