Essential Job Functions

The Technology Training Specialist II is responsible for delivering training to all attorneys and staff on how to best use the Firm's technology to enable their success. Training is to be conducted in alignment with Firm policies, Firmwide training standards, procedures and guidelines and reporting key success indicators. Training delivery includes, but may not be limited to, virtual, classroom training, webinars, individual coaching, support, and document troubleshooting. Using our approved templates, layout, and branding, the candidate must be able to create basic troubleshooting documentation, along with detailed step-by-step instruction for the Kirkland user. Training is delivered following standardized firmwide lesson plans that include knowledge of Microsoft Office products, proper use of Word to construct legal documents and the use of Document Management is essential along with the ability to proactively learn new applications quickly, proficiently, and independently.

Training in this role will include new hire computer orientation, software upgrades and deployments, and on-going skills enhancement. Other job responsibilities include needs assessment, change management planning, application testing, support, and other project work as required. The position is an exempt position and, as such, will require availability to work overtime to train evening staff and participate in Firmwide initiatives. The position is based in New York but works with a global team to deliver training anywhere in the world, either by audio/video conferencing or in person.

Essential Functions:

Learning

  • Constantly and consistently learns new technologies, systems, and best practices through self-directed study, hands-on testing, observation, training, and interaction with attorneys, legal staff, and administrative staff. More important than what you know is what you can learn through diligence, curiosity, repetition, and failure, and how you use that new knowledge to adjust, refresh, and build upon your existing knowledge.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office products, and proper use of Word to construct legal documents, and the use of Document Management systems.
  • Gains 'real world' knowledge of how attorneys, legal staff, and administrative staff work in order to better train and support them through direct interaction.
  • Proactive and reliable self-starter and problem solver who looks for opportunities to educate.
Creation

  • Based on knowledge of our customers and the system in question, designs ways to deliver information that effectively promotes learning of material, from email to E-learning, one-on-one coaching, virtual or classroom training.
  • Develops training materials following defined best practices, using approved Firm templates with proper branding and layout; meets with key stakeholders, designs, and develops training solutions as directed by immediate supervisor and/or Instructional Design team.
Delivery

  • Delivers informal and formal learning solutions in a manner that is clear, engaging, and effective, in a classroom, one-on-one, or virtual room environment using the proper medium (PowerPoint, direct demonstrations, Zoom, etc.)
  • Delivers New Hire Training for incoming staff and attorneys at the highest possible quality as an ambassador of the Firm to new employees.
  • Maintains the learning environment so that it is clean, up-to-date, and ready for training.
  • Provides escalated 'how to' targeted training/support to individuals as needed on Firm applications and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

Three or more years of professional training in Legal is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills on administrative matters is essential in addition to the use of those skills for training/knowledge sharing purposes. The ideal candidate must project a professional, engaging demeanor and provide a positive, high-energy learning experience.
