Job Description

The CRO of Third Party Risk Management oversees risks associated with Fannie Mae third party relationships. The CRO will define enterprise-level risk limits and thresholds applicable to third party relationships, establish governance standards to guide risk-related decisions, monitoring and escalations; oversee application of these standards by 'first line' business units; report on third party risk issues to senior management and the Board of Directors, and approve third party business risk policy exceptions and parameters.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKEThe Third Party Risk Management - VP role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee risks associated with Fannie Mae third parties and fourth partiesin coordination with other functional risk leaders across the company.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor adherence to a risk management framework for third party relationships acrossenterprise-level requirements for due diligence and selection of third parties, contract negotiation, ongoing monitoring and termination.
  • Develop and maintain an Enterprise-level Third Party Risk Management Policy that incorporates the framework elements including regulatory expecations.
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative monitoring of third party risks at an enterprise level.
  • Consider policy exceptions.
  • Identify significant new/emerging risks applicable to third parties and incorporate them into the framework.
  • Develop detailed risk reporting on third party risk issues.
  • Conduct Targeted Risk Reviews of business unit compliance with the third party risk management framework and policy, and recommend actions to address any issues noted.
  • Report and communicate results of oversight activities.
  • Participate in relevant risk committees and working groups.
  • Collaborate closely with the relevant business unit personnel to ensure alignment between the first line of defense risk management of third parties and the second line of defense of risk oversight.

Skills

  • Risk assessment and management including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying control gaps, risk reporting and risk decision making.
  • Business insight skills, including advising.
  • Skilled in creating visual concepts, creating content, and senior and board level communications.
  • Collective capabilities for leadership, including leading teams, giving feedback, facilitating meetings, and coaching and mentoring.
  • Influencing includi.ng negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict
  • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal.
  • Governance and compliance including creating policies, evaluating compliance, conducting internal investigations, developing data governance, etc.
  • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions.
  • Experience identifying and selecting strategic options, and identifying resources to meet the defined objectives.
  • Experience helping an organization to plan and manage change in effort to meet strategic objectives.
  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.
  • Relationship management including managing and engaging stakeholders.
