Cartographer - TS/SCI
DC, Washington 20762 Security Clearance: U.S. Citizen, Current Security Clearance, TS/SCI, CI Polygraph Skills: Cartographer, Mapping Scientist, GIS, Intelligence Collections, spatial data tools Multiple Positions - all levels We are recruiting for multiple Cartographers to work in support of an intelligence community customer. Qualified candidates will have experience and training in the collection and analysis of geographic spatial information (GIS) for mapmaking and surveying functions. Experience in reading and understanding detailed photographs and drawings and working alongside cartographers/mapping scientists supporting a variety of tasks including preparing maps, charts, and drawings is required. Location: Work will be on-site at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB). Role and responsibilities include:- Support intelligence activities through reading and understanding detailed photographs and drawings.
- Collect geographic information from aerial photographs and survey data and use this information to prepare maps, charts, and drawings.
- Use manual and computerized drafting instruments, plotting equipment, and related techniques.
- Render accurate representations of data .
- Other duties, as assigned.
- U.S. citizenship
- Current TS/SCI security clearance
- Current polygraph or the ability to pass a CI polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree is required; related discipline preferred.
- Multiple positions/requirements include:
- Journeyman Level:
- 4 years of relevant experience in cartography
- 2+ years of experience with Adobe Suite, MAPublisher, ArcGIS, Google Earth
- 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Mid Level
- 6 years of relevant experience in cartography
- 4+ years of experience with Adobe Suite, MAPublisher, ArcGIS, Google Earth
- 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with intelligence collection activities gathering geographic information from aerial photographs and survey data to prepare maps, charts, and drawings.
- Training and expertise to visualize objects, distances, sizes, and abstract forms.
- Expertise with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies and spatial data tools.
- Skilled with using mathematical formulas, surveying, and measurements.
- Computer training for data collection, data visualization, and support tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to succeed in blended team of scientists and non-scientist personnel.
- Experience as a cartographic lead designing maps and coordinating mapmaking process is a plus.
- Experience with cartographic drafting for detailed natural and man-made structures is a plus.
- Experience as a mosaicist working with sequenced photographic prints of a geographic area is a plus.
- Experience working with photogrammetrists to prepare original maps to scale using aerial photographs, interpretation, mathematical formulas, and analytical processes is a plus.
