Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Technology Training Coordinator in the Information Technology department, reporting to the Sr. Technology Training & QA Manager. The role will reside in the Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for providing training and support to end users on various software applications and firm technology initiatives. The Technology Training Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, efficient and effective department operations, and an atmosphere of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities of this position include:
  • Train personnel on the basic and advanced functions of the core and specialized legal applications used by the firm using such methods as online group and one-on-one training, in person group instruction, and demonstrations when necessary.
  • Train new personnel in-person and across the firm using distance learning tools.
  • Identify educational requirements by working with the Technology Training team, local IT, analyzing help desk reports, and classroom feedback.
  • Maintain scheduling and attendance with the Firm Training Scheduler and customize training programs as necessary for international office personnel.
  • Under the supervision of the Sr. Technology Training and QA Manager, develop and maintain training materials related to the training of applications and systems used by the firm including eLearning solutions as well as assisting in the testing and documentation of applications and settings for new systems and software.
  • Under the supervision of the Sr. Technology Training and QA Manager, test new and updated software applications to ensure that they work as expected and are user-friendly.
  • Participate in available professional development activities; monitor publications and other sources of information for trends affecting the department's performance.
  • Handle additional technical support tasks and project work in the office as requested by the Sr. Technology Training and QA Manager.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A two- or four-year degree preferred
  • A minimum of three years of relevant end user training experience in a professional services environment, preferably a law firm
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Ability to communicate with attorneys and staff in an effective, non-technical manner
  • Ability to quickly comprehend, document, and train on new software
  • Ability to use distance learning technologies to effectively deliver training
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), Edge, document management systems, portal applications and operating systems used by the firm
  • Proficiency on office equipment used on a regular basis including computers, printers, copy machines, and telephones
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through completion including the ability to handle many tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions, and meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
  • Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people in a team setting
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships within the department, office and firm
