Role: Splunk Cloud Data Engineer

Location: Washington, DC

Duration: Long Term

Project Scope: Expert in Splunk programming and hands-on knowledge of the Splunk infrastructure.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to analyze, ingest and generate meaningful data in Splunk reports.
  • Experience building and supporting scalable solutions using Cloud technologies.
  • Develop infrastructure monitoring processes with self-healing automation when possible

All About You
  • Expert knowledge in design and administration of Dell/EMC IDPA, Avamar, Data Domain and Networker.
  • Good experience with Dell/EMC Data protection suits.
  • Extensive knowledge of large database performance and storage integration.
  • Extensive experience with NDMP, CIFS, NFS, deduplication and compression.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAN and NAS constructs (LUNs, Aggregation, Volume / Filesystem, Replication, Snapshots, QTrees / Virtual Volumes).
  • Experience developing code in at least one high-level programing language and in automation/testing via scripting/programing (e.g. Python, unix Shell, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge on installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of Pure all Flash storage systems, Brocade SAN Switches and Cisco storage networking gear (Ethernet and fiber channel).
  • Strong knowledge of the performance boundaries of physical disks (spinning and flash) and the measures taken by storage system vendors to compensate.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP communications, SAN, and FC Networks.
  • Experience in Splunk query, building dashboard and programming.
  • Hands-on experience on AWS or Azure technologies.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently and under pressure.
  • Track record in learning new technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent ability to work in a team environment and across organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent task planning and monitoring skills, including the development of standard operating procedures.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness in complex environments; flexibility and ability to prioritize conflicting demands in high-pressure and time-critical situations.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
