Skillette is a skill-based cooking school for home chefs located in Union Market. Over half of Americans say they can’t cook and struggle with basic recipes, like eggs and pancakes. It’s our mission to remove the guesswork and content overwhelm about what it takes to be a good cook. We’ve distilled a professional culinary education to 55 Skills every home chef needs to know. We offer subscription-based cooking classes every week that focus on seasonally-related cooking skills and recipes.
We're looking for some experienced chef instructors to join our team!
Qualifications:
-5+ years of kitchen experience (must be food cookery, not pastry)
-Experience teaching cooking classes or cooking skills
-Curiosity about the science of cooking and how cooking works, as well as finding the definitive or best way to cook or prepare something
-Lifelong learner
-Warm and outgoing personality
-Can commit to a consistent schedule
-Comfortable on camera or in photos for virtual learning and social media
Job Description:
-Attend Training in mid-February
-Teach 90-minute classes focused on specific skills by following a Skillette class syllabus and format
-Assist with class prep and clean up
-Check students in and welcome them to class
-Determine if students have mastered the skill and earn a skill badge
-Attend staff meetings and trainings
Compensation and Schedule:
$100 per class
Instructors teach 5-10 classes a week (more as we grow)
Classes start in early March. We're hiring ASAP!
Operating Hours:
Thurs: 5 - 9 pm
Sat: 10 - 8 pm
Sun: 10 - 8 pm
Mon: 5 - 9 pm
