John Lyon Veterans of Foreign Wars 3150 is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic bartender to join our Veteran focused team. VFW Post 3150 operates and maintains a private canteen (bar and kitchen) for post members and their guests, to gather and socialize.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a neighborhood and small bar setting, showcasing their ability to create exceptional customer experiences. As a bartender, you will be responsible for serving beer (bottle, can and tap), wine and soft drink beverages, provide outstanding customer service, and maintain a clean and organized bar area.

Duties:

- Prepare and serve alcoholic (beer and wine only) and canned soft drinks according to established standards.

- Engage with customers, ensure a welcoming environment.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware and utensils.

- Monitor inventory levels, restock supplies as needed, and assist in placing orders.

- Adhere to food safety regulations and responsible alcohol service guidelines.

- Utilize Square POS system for processing orders efficiently.

- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service of food items.

- Handle cash transactions accurately while providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

- Previous experience as a bartender in a small bar environment is preferred.

- Strong preference for Veteran or Veteran Family Member.

- Strong knowledge of various beverage types (beers and wines).

- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage guests effectively.

- Familiarity with food safety practices within the food service industry.

- Proficiency in using Square POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus.

- Ability to follow established open and closing procedures.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including Friday and Saturday nights.

- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Job Type: Part-time, No more than 12 hours per week

Pay: $10 per hour plus tips

Shift: We have multiple open shifts, it is expected that the bartender hired would fill those shifts. All shifts are evening shifts - 6 to 10 PM, Friday and Saturday nights. There is an option for additional hall rental engagements if you are available.

Arlington, VA - near Ballston and the Courthouse area (Required)
