We are an ophthalmology practice located in Reston, VA looking for a friendly, people oriented, hardworking, attentive to details, dependable, punctual Medical Assistant to join our team on a part time basis.

We are looking for a mature, caring person with the compassion to help others and work as our medical assistant. No experience is required, we will train on an individual basis. The applicant must have good personal and communication skills. You will be a part of a team to deliver quality and compassionate eye care to the local community.

This can be a challenging learning experience for college graduates or college students with a high GPA looking to apply to professional schools. High school graduates with excellent academic records, empathy and perseverance to be successful are also welcome. No medical experience necessary; we are willing to train the right individual on a case by case basis.

Clinical and administrative duties include screening patients, taking their medical history, performing visual field tests using high tech instruments, using an EMR, medical insurance billing and scribing, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments. Ability to work as a team member and to be self-starter and self reliant is important. Part Time highly preferred, but willing to negotiate schedules.

Qualifications:

- Recommended to be non-student who can work 3-4 days full-time

- Some medical experience preferred, but not required

- Looking for ages from 18 and up, ideally non-students

- No medical experience necessary; we are willing to train the right individual on a case by case basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Obtaining medical history from patients

- Conducting eye exams using auto-refractors, GDx machines, and HVF.

- Showing professionalism when working with patients in-person and over the phone

- Using the office electronic medical record to document patient's information

- Scheduling appointments

- Confirming insurance eligibility, collecting co-pays and other patient payments

- Calling pharmacies to send in patients prescriptions

- Answering phone calls and replying back to emails during the work day

- Checking voicemails and respond back

- Creating SOAP notes for the doctor

Summary:

The Medical Assistant assists in obtaining a comprehensive medical history of patients, conducting preliminary eye exams, and adequately documenting information after the visit in the electronic medical record system. This position is available for a candidate who is eager to work in a fast-paced medical environment. This role operates in a team-based environment with a shared goal of providing safe care to all patients.
