POSITION SUMMARY: This position works closely with the Sr. Director of IT Development to research, develop and implement information technology strategies to meet company objectives. The Director of IT Development provides technical leadership, vision, direction, and mentoring for the legacy development, application support, and quality assurance teams.

REGULAR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages the development, testing, and support of legacy system software.

Monitors the status of all IT legacy development projects and communicates status to the Sr. Director of IT Development.

Works with the Sr. Director of IT Development to evaluate and develop strategies for maintaining and enhancing web, system and program performance. Works with the Project Management and senior developers to define and understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios while continuously improving software development practices. Consults with external teams to gather information regarding program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.

Encourages innovation, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity

Explores new technologies for future planning and potential implementation. Ensures that software in use is current and adequate to support operations and makes recommendations for hardware modifications.

Supervises, motivates and educates employees.

Implements software development best practices across the team.

Evaluates, communicates and documents employee's performance. Conducts annual performance evaluations and submits completed reviews to the CIO and Human Resources for approval.

Properly documents performance issues, employee relations issues and any other employment concerns promptly and provides the documents to Human Resources for filing.

Works with Human Resources to recruit and hire new employees and develops training programs for new employees.

Works closely with IT management to promote a positive work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: Undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field; ten years related experience, which includes training using

COBOL and Linux. Five years of management experience is required. Substantial experience and knowledge in programming and analysis in addition to experience within RSR Group can replace the education and management requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency in Excel, Word and Access, and strong organizational skills. Occasional travel is required.
