Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a DevOpsEngineerfor a Contract assignment with one of our premier Information Technology Services clients in Boca Raton, FL, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, or Minneapolis, MN. As a Scripting/DevOps Contractor you will be working with DBAs and Database Architects in a technologically diverse environment in our best-in-class enterprise data centers and AZ/AWS cloud based environments. You will be contributing towards helping DBAs to support a large diverse database environment. Responsibilities :
- Develop automated solutions to migrate database and application infrastructures into the public cloud using infrastructure-as-code frameworks
- Support database and application infrastructures in the public cloud
- Support database monitoring infrastructures in the cloud and on premise
- Research and deploy new technologies to drive innovation
- Improve the software development process in the database team
- Work with operations and the development teams to drive automation priorities
- Willing to learn typical DBA activities so that candidate can contribute effectively in DBA Support Infrastructure
- Bachelor in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems(MIS) or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience on Linux and Unix environments using one or more general programming languages.
- 3+ years in developing and using configuration and versioning management automation tools by using Ansible, Chef, git etc.
- 2+ years of DevOps development/working experience on Linux and Unix environments
- 1+ years experience in developing tools/playbooks/modules using HashiCorp Terraform will be an added plus
- High programming competence in Python and Shell required
- Complimentary programming skillset:
- Perl and PHP programming experience
- Web and API development experience using Python and/or PHP web frameworks
- Experience with other general programming languages, e.g. Go, Node.js, Ruby and Rust
- Working experience with Git and Git repository hosting service like Gitlab and Github
- Basic knowledge of typical Database environments so that candidate is effective in using specific DB Connectivity etc modules within DevOPS/Scripts(python, Perl etc) routines
- Develop and support microservices using containers
- Capable of handling multiple assignments and additional responsibilities
- Familiarity with access controls, secret management and service discovery
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines in git
- Solid understanding of Cloud Service Providers such as Azure and/or AWS
- Experience working in hybrid environments, i.e. bare metal, cloud, containers and virtual environments
- Experience analyzing and troubleshooting networks and distributed systems
- Experience in Importing/Exporting database and application infrastructures into the Cloud using HashiCorp Terraform and Cloud Orchestration tools will be a huge plus.
- Database configuration and management handling cloud native databases will be an added plus
