We currently have an opportunity for a Junior Network Engineer in Qualifications: • Must have experience in 24/7 environments • Proficient and detailed knowledge of the OSI layers 1-4 and associated equipment • Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP suite • Experience with advanced network concepts and technologies such as QoS, CoS, IDS/IPS, VoIP, flow control, PFC, store-and-forward switching and cut-through switching • Knowledge of fiber transport installation, troubleshooting and maintenance • Knowledge of switch architecture, ASICs and packet flow for current generation switches/routers • Knowledge of implementing and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP and OSPF • Working knowledge of end-to-end QoS for LAN/WAN/MPLS network • Experience with packet sniffing applications (NAM, Snort, TCPDump, Wireshark, Netmon, etc.). • Experience performance tuning networking infrastructures • Experience with 10gb Ethernet • Knowledge of Infiniband or 40/100g Ethernet • Expert understanding of, and experience with, internetworking technologies. Examples: • IOS-XE, NX-OS, VPC, STP, VRF, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, DMVPN, PFR, PBR, NetFlow, ACLs Proficiency in the following areas: • Cisco Routers • Cisco Switches • Firewalls • Load Balancers Additional skills/background: • Desired knowledge of Windows server and desktop products. • Desired ability to administer a large scale, multi-domain AD infrastructure. • Desired experience with virtualization technologies - VMWare ESX or Hyper-V. • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely technical information to non-technical individuals. • Be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards • Available for on-call rotation for afterhours and weekend support. • Must have strong quantitative, analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Responsibilities: • Provide daily support of the Local, Wireless, and Wide Area Network including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers. • Plan and perform firmware upgrades of Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, and Firewalls. • Configuring and tuning monitoring systems for network devices. • Creating and maintaining network diagrams • Tracking support and maintenance contract renewals • Participate in team troubleshooting including operations bridges, trouble tickets and RCA • Process, monitor and prioritize trouble tickets • Ability to follow IT policies and procedures • Own problem remediation including analysis, recommendation, and implementation • Document findings and update knowledge base • Interact with other teams for a variety of company initiatives • Perform creation and troubleshooting of site to site VPNs with external customers IT departments. Additional Responsibilities (may be assigned): • Provide remote support to both internal/external clients as needed. • Be an active member and Participate in the Change Control Process to ensure we are communicating and planning all production changes through the CCB. • Contribute and be active participant in achieving - Departmental goals, SLA attainment, and Corporate TAT (Turn-around time). • Be available to work evenings/weekends as an escalation point to the Engineering Team. • Participate in on-call schedule as assigned. Position Objectives: • Provide a high availability environment for our Internal/External Clients and Patients. • Maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers, consultants and vendors. • Customer service oriented towards all levels of staff • Able to communicate clearly and concisely technical information to non-technical individuals. • Works productively and efficiently to achieve company and departmental goals • Adheres to Laboratories core values, safety and compliance policies and procedures Experience: • 2+ years demonstrated experience supporting a large geographically dispersed IT infrastructure preferred. • Requires industry recognized technical certification(s) preferred - • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) or Equivalent level industry recognized certification. • Medical Laboratory experience desired. Experience in environments with regulated Change Control requirements preferred.
