ASRC Federal Data Solutions is hiring a Computer Aided Design Drafter to support the KIAC Communication Services team at Kennedy Space Center. Computer Aided Design (CAD) operator creates electrical schematics and drawings, such as; wiring diagrams, cable fabrication, assemblies and panel layout drawings for custom-designed voice, cable, transmissions, timing, and imaging communications systems. Determines and prepares drawing using drafting methods, procedures, and techniques that meet NASA and customer requirements. Drawings are used to communicate engineering requirements, design, and other information. The operator uses recognized systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines having specific meanings in drawings. This position is represented by the IBEW Local 2088.
Primary responsibilities may include:- Design drawings in two-dimensional and three-dimensional space.
- Creates and revises production drawings (detail and assembly drawings).
- Using engineering rough sketch of proposed drawing, dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project creates final drawing.
- Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
- Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of communication systems.
- Uses special techniques in schematic drawing, isometric, orthographic, perspective projection or other techniques of technical illustration.
- Upgrade or update drawing to current customer engineering standards.
- Sets up and maintains an organized file system for retrieving drawings.
- Communicates with engineering, field system specialists, quality and operations regarding new and revised prints.
- Working knowledge of tolerances, materials, finishes, etc. May provide work leadership to lower level drafters.
- Provide, update and maintain all required documentation, reports, and logs, etc., manually or in electronic databases.
- Make recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity.
- Adhere to OSHA, NASA, Company and customer safety requirements.
- May assist in training others.
- >4 years of experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD and Visio.
- Ability to analyze complex technical concepts and convert to technical and engineering drawings.
- BS or equivalent.
- 1.5 years of experience may substitute for education.
