The CCP S&MA Vehicle Engineering & Safety Products Leader acts as senior technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or team leader. You may lead or organize interfaces between customers' and Aerospace technical and management staff. This position will also will for you to coordinate large-scale technical efforts across program/project lines.

The position is on-site at the Kennedy Space Center.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Support shall include: experienced design, development and hardware production engineer that will support the CCP SMA team to ensure the successful COFR and certification for the SpaceX Provider missions.
  • Support shall include detailed review of highly technical product assurance actions for reuse and for the development of updated PAAs as each missions completes via a thorough risk based review.
  • Support should include a strong mechanical engineering background that can act as vehicle safety engineer for multiple systems including ECLSS, thermal systems and other spacecraft and launch vehicle systems.
  • Provide support to follow build and production schedules and to provide real time on the floor review of system changes that could change risk or surveillance needs. Strong understanding of the Provider production will be required but on the job training will be required within the CCP Provider's system.
  • Serves as the integration leader and/or coordinator of a team of technical contributors, which may include advanced or senior level technical/project specialists. May serve as principal technical representative to customer, coordinating efforts on several smaller projects in concurrent operation or on portions of larger multi-phase/multi-disciplinary project. Identifies issues, prioritizes tasks, facilitates communications, and acts as spokesperson for the working group to management/ customers. Scopes requirements for and initiates acquisition of technical support from appropriate corporate resources including cost and economic or market analysis specialists, as appropriate. Monitors and may assist in development of budgets and other resource allocations to accomplish tasks, and may be given additional administrative coordination and management liaison responsibilities. Acts as senior mentor to team members, providing orientation, technical guidance and development insight. May participate in new business and/or technical planning efforts. May bring in tasks and projects beyond personal activities from internal and external sources.

What You Need to Be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 10 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
  • Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Widely recognized internally and externally by peers, management, program office, Air Force, and contractors
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Willing to travel

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you had at least one or more of these:
  • 12 or more years of space flight hardware processing experience.
  • A Masters or PhD in an applicable field of study
  • Personal experience working with SpaceX or Boeing
  • Hands on experience with space flight hardware
  • Project management or Leadership experience in a technical project
