ASRC Federal Data Solutions is seeking a

Communication Systems Engineer I to support the Kennedy Infrastructure and Communication (KIAC) contract at Kennedy Space Center. This engineer will be assigned to the Voice group. Communication Systems Engineers' research, design and develop, test, oversee the installation of IT network transmission systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

: Design and implement network transmission system as assigned. The network will include both wired and wireless protocols, various media and network equipment. Responsible for maintaining up time and quality of the network segment by properly designing and scheduling periodic preventive maintenance activities. The Engineer is to ensure effective fault management, periodic upgrades, and capacity augmentation of transmission network with minimal disruption of services. Communication Systems engineering is responsible for providing engineering products for a broad set of programs at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) across the project life cycle, ranging from operational programs, to design and development projects. The organization supplies, specifies, and/or maintains technical insight into ground systems and facilities to meet current and future space flight customer needs. The organization develops and maintains experienced engineering and a set of test facilities that perform design, integration, test and sustaining engineering. The Engineer will also work closely with IT security group and assist in mitigating any security vulnerability that are identified. Communication System engineering is responsible for voice systems, operational intercommunication voice systems and a wide variety of voice distribution systems. All of these systems support multiple NASA missions at Kennedy Space Center.

Responsibilities

  • BS Degree + 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Experience with network implementation, and understanding on voice data transmission system.
  • Experience with multi-user server setup, and understanding of database administration and implementation
