The Civil Engineer is responsible for engineering services to support all aspects of the District wet utilities and solid waste utility systems at the Walt Disney World Resort including: potable water resources for production, distribution, source protection and allocation; reclaimed water storage, production and distribution; solid waste collection, recycling and transfer; and wastewater collection, transmission, treatment, disposition of residuals and reuse.
Duties will include planning and managing utility projects and coordinating contractors and design consultants to support the civil portfolio of capital improvement projects. The candidate will provide engineering services to multiple projects and assignments with some independence under limited supervision. Typical projects developed and supported by this role include utility scale work. Additionally, this position will be responsible for documenting design, construction, and close-out activities.The Civil Engineer, will be a direct report to the Principal Civil Engineer, RCES Engineering & Programs and will work closely with the Senior Mechanical Project Manager.Responsibilities/You Will- Provide engineering and technical direction to engineering consultants to support the preparation of civil studies, reports, plans, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Develop equipment and construction specifications.
- Provide oversight for utility system capital planning addressing system capacity, end-of-life equipment replacement and installation of utility infrastructure systems.
- Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Current certification as an Engineering Intern (EI). Note that certification in Florida is a requirement of employment.
- 3+ years of experience in municipal, consulting or a related field.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and schematic drawings.
- Ability to work in a variety of work environments, including outdoor field locations.
- Ability to work extended hours to support system emergencies and adverse weather events.
- 5+ years of experience in municipal, consulting or a related field.
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida or current registration in another state with the ability to become registered in Florida within six (6) months of employment.
- Working knowledge of standards and codes applicable to civil utility systems.
- Operational experience or background in standards development or plan review.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- Master's degree in applicable discipline
